LTA Performance Coaching International Junior Course

5 MINUTE READ

Tennis coach explaining a drill to prospective coaches on a clay court

The Performance Coaching International Junior Course (Level 5) has been built around the challenges and demands coaches experience within the Regional Performance, National Performance and International Junior stages of the Player Pathway.

The player is the central figure at each stage of the pathway and this course acknowledges the importance of the coach's role in supporting the player to move through these transitions.

The course offers opportunities for you to work with other coaches and experts on and off court, linked to the Regional Performance, National Performance and International Junior stages, to explore:

  • What is successful international junior player development?
  • What is successful coaching linked to international junior player development?
  • What does the coach, as a person, bring to their practice?

Level 5 is the highest qualification we offer at the LTA; it requires a deeper level of thought from the coach linked to their coaching practice.

The 18-month course will recognise what each coach will come with and support them with the questions they have, to bring structure and add depth to their existing knowledge and skills, enabling them to progress with these new insights about what coaching strategies work for them and their players, in what situations and why. This will be done through practical workshops, individual coach support sessions taking place in the coach’s environment, mentoring from senior coaches and insight from external experts.
