Catch up on all the action for British players across the tours, with ten titles across the ATP Challenger and ITF tours over the last week, along with a WTA Tour semi final.

Francesca Jones enjoyed a successful preparation for the Billie Jean King Cup finals in Shenzhen this week by reaching the semi-finals of the SP Open in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Sixth seed Jones enjoyed a strong week, including a straight sets win over second seed Solana Sierra, who defeated Katie Boulter at Wimbledon earlier this year, before falling to Indonesian rising star Janice Tjen.

Jones now climbs to a career-high ranking of 73, and travels to China to team up with Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal and Jodie Burrage as part of the Lexus GB Billie Jean King Cup squad.

Jack Pinnington Jones led the titles for Brits this week, as he secured his second ATP Challenger title of the summer in Winston Salem in North Carolina, storming to the title without dropping a set.

Going into the event as fourth seed, Pinnington Jones made light work of his opponents throughout the week, rounding off by beating his fourth American opponent, Trevor Svajda, 62 62. The title sees Pinnington Jones rise 63 places to a career-high ranking of 177.

On the ITF Tour, Katie Swan won her third singles title of the year at the W35 Wagga Wagga. The fourth seed cruised to the title without dropping a set, and losing only 19 games all week, rounding off the week by defeating number two seed Taylah Preston 6-1 6-2 in the final.

Naiktha Bains continued her fine form in 2025, claiming the doubles title with India’s Rutjua Bhosale at the W75 Le Neubourg after defeating third seeds Polina Iatchenko and Sofya Lansere 6-2 1-6 10-6 to take her doubles titles tally for the year to four.

Two more Brits extended their title streaks on the ITF Tour. Alicia Dudeney claimed her second singles title in a row at the W15 Monastir, as well as winning the doubles title with American Megan Heuser, whilst Max Basing won the singles title at the M25 Bali to win his third singles title in three weeks, after previous victories in Nakhon Pathom and Bali. Remarkably, four of Basing’s five ITF singles titles have come in Bali.

Giles Hussey lived up to his billing as number one seed at the M15 Madrid to win the title in the Spanish capital, whilst Toby Samuel claimed the M15 Hurghada title in Egypt, and made it a total of five players to take a title without dropping a set.

Shuker comes out on top of 'Battle of the Brits' in Toronto

British No.1 Lucy Shuker succeeded British No.2 Cornelia Oosthuizen as women’s singles champion at the Birmingham Wheelchair Tennis Classic in Toronto after saving two match points on her way to beating 2024 champion Oosthuizen 3-6, 7-6(8), 6-2 in the final.

With all four top-ranked Brits lining up for the women’s draw, second seed and defending champion Oosthuizen beat Abbie Breakwell, 6-3, 6-2 and Ruby Bishop 6-1, 6-2 to set up the all-British final after Shuker had beaten the USA’s Maylee Phelps 6-3, 6-4 and Canada’s Vicki Morton 6-0, 6-0 in her quarter and semi-final matches.

From 5-3 down in the second set, Shuker rallied and saved two set points in the tie-break before going on to clinch her second singles title of 2025.

Andrew Penney added a second British title in Toronto, going one better in the men’s doubles than last year, as he partnered Conner Stroud of the USA to victory.

After a first round singles loss to the USA’s Charlie Cooper, Penney and Stroud dropped just one game on their way to the final, defeating Canadian duo Nevin Dunn and Silviu Serbanescu 6-0, 6-0 and the Canadian-French partnership of Billy Bridges and Jessy-Carl Dongal 6-0, 6-1.
Penney and Stroud then withstood the challenge of Japanese second seeds Daisuke Arai and Kouhei Suzuki 4-6, 6-3, (10-8) after the deciding match tie-break, with Penney claiming his first doubles title of 2025.
