Tennis lessons in Manchester

The LTA is helping players of all skill levels and ages take the first, or next, step in improving their game. There are some fantastic LTA accredited coaches in the Manchester area providing lessons, with many of them holding a Level 4 qualification.

The LTA wants to encourage you to Play Your Way and regardless of your age or ability; there are many ways to get into tennis. For anyone stepping on court for the first time or wanting to up their game, we actively encourage learning how to play tennis in Manchester.


For kids aged 4-18, the LTA Youth programme is a fantastic introduction to the sport and helps develop key skills both on and off the court. With 6 different stages, starting with Youth Start, the programme develops with the player, keeping it fresh and exciting the whole way through. Tennis tournaments in Manchester

Since 2015, Manchester has also played home to one of the UK’s professional events in the build up to the Wimbledon Championships. The Manchester Trophy Tournament is a ITF World Tour event, which has been held since 2015 at The Northern Lawn Tennis Club, welcoming fantastic players from the world of professional women’s tennis.

Alongside the professional Grass Court tournament, and central to the event, is a pre and post participation outreach programme which is run in partnership with the Council and Club. To date the campaign has reached over 10K participants in local schools, parks and clubs. Additionally the event hosts a volunteer recognition day to recognise the large local contribution of tennis volunteers from Cheshire and Lancashire Counties.

LTA tennis in Manchester

The LTA is proud to have a large number of LTA registered venues throughout Manchester, providing the community with a safe and friendly tennis environment that enables all ages to come along to a local court and have fun playing tennis.

The LTA is also continuing to lead the way in providing opportunities for underserved communities to get involved in tennis through its SERVES programme. SERVES is a leading sport for development programme that takes tennis to communities and people who might not otherwise have the chance to play.
