Wheelchair Performance Pathway
The Wheelchair Performance Pathway is made up of a collection of LTA Delivered Programmes and LTA Supported Initiatives, each with their own support structure to get more players on court with potential to progress up the Wheelchair Performance Pathway. These include opportunities for new players through the Wheelchair Tennis Initiative, talented juniors through the Regional Talent Programme and National Age Group Programme, and performance players through Pro Transition, Pro Access Support, the Pro Scholarship Programme and the Elite Programme.

The Wheelchair Tennis Initiative is the LTA's Wheelchair Tennis programme to support new players with physical impairments into tennis and uncover the next generation of wheelchair tennis champions.
Supported by the LTA, these one-day events offer players the opportunity to showcase and hone their skills in a transformative environment. It’s a collection of inspiring days that look to attract, engage, and inspire people with physical impairments to join the game.
This stage is delivered as a camp-based format for talented young players who could meet National Age Group Programme selection criteria within 2 – 4 yrs.
The National Age Group Programme is split into two stages, U14 and U18; supporting the development of our highest potential junior wheelchair tennis players to be nationally and internationally competitive.
The programme focuses on providing transformational training and competition opportunities and is geared towards a player’s long-term development.
The Pro Transition Programme is for wheelchair tennis players with the athletic profile and ranking trajectory that indicates the likelihood of achieving Pro Scholarship Programme (PSP) selection criteria within two years.
Pro Access supports players competing at ITF World Tour level with the intention to establish a strong cohort of players who could, compete at Grand Slams and Paralympic Games and be considered for Great Britain’s men’s, women’s and quad World Team Cup squads.
The Pro Scholarship Programme is for players with the athletic potential to progress into the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour top seven singles world ranking.
The Elite Programme is for our highest performing players who are achieving major tournament success and have the potential to consistently win Grand Slam titles and Paralympic Medals.
Classification is open to any person who has an eligible physical impairment and wants to compete in wheelchair tennis and is essential if you wish to compete in International Tennis Federation (ITF) events.
