Reid & Fernandez win WC1000 title at French Riviera Open

Gordon Reid secured his 10th men’s doubles title of 2026 after partnering Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina to victory at the French Riviera Open, the sixth and last WC1000 wheelchair tournament of the year, in Biot.

Second seeds Reid and Fernandes progressed to the final without dropping a set and then defeated top seeds and 2025 Wimbledon champions Martin de la Puente of Spain and Ruben Spaargaren of the Netherlands 6-2, 7-5 to secure their second career title together at WC1000 and equivalent level.

A two-time men’s singles champion in Biot, Reid’s singles challenge this year came to an end in a 6-2, 6-4 semi-final loss to eventual champion Fernandez, while fellow Brits Ben Bartram and Andrew Penney both narrowly missed out on joining Reid in the doubles semi-finals after deciding match tie-breaks in their quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, Andy Lapthorne’s hopes of a third successive French Riviera Open men’s doubles title came to an end in this year’s final after the British No.1 and Turkey’s Ahmet Kaplan lost out to top seeds Sam Schroder and Jin Woodman 6-4, 7-5,

Cornelia Oosthuizen reached the women’s doubles semi-finals of a WC1000 tournament for just the second time in her career. Oosthuizen and Germany’s Britta Wend lost to third seeds and eventual tournament champions Ksenia Chasteau and Guo Luoyao 6-3, 6-2.

Brooks & Rajecki lift WTA 125 doubles trophy

British doubles duo Madeline Brooks and Amelia Rajecki won their first WTA 125 title together at the Jingshan Tennis Open in China.

Brooks and Rajecki knocked out second seeds Makoto Ninimiya and Nika Radisic in the opening round before going on to reach their second WTA 125 final of the season.

The Brits battled through an epic title-decider against Sofya Lansere and Alexandra Shubladze – coming back from a set down to win 6-7(5), 7-6(1), 10-6 in an hour and 57 minutes.

This was the biggest title victory of Brooks’ career and adds a second WTA 125 trophy for Rajecki, who won the Abierto Tampico women’s doubles last October.

Finn Bass and Scott Duncan also made the final of the Mouilleron-Le-Captif Challenger, losing out to third seeds Larl Poling and Joshua Sheehy 7-6(4), 4-6, 10-3.
