US Open 2026: Emma Raducanu & Arthur Fery lead British entries with Jack Draper set for qualifying

• 2 minute read

Five British tennis players have direct entry into the singles main draws at the 2026 US Open from 30 August – 13 September, with more set for qualifying.

In the women’s singles, Emma Raducanu is the highest-ranked British player and will be hoping to make her return from injury.

Raducanu has been out with a stress fracture in her lower right leg, coming off the back of her first WTA 500 final at the HSBC Championships. The British No.1 has withdrawn from the National Bank Open and Cincinnati Open in the coming weeks, but will be aiming to play at the tournament she famously won in 2021.

Katie Boulter also has direct entry into the women’s singles. Boulter had an impressive run at The Queen’s Club this summer, earning a career-best win over world No.2 Elena Rybakina to make the semi-finals, but bowed out in the first round at Wimbledon.

Boulter made the third round at the US Open in 2023 – her joint best Grand Slam result.

The US Open men’s singles draw will include Arthur Fery, Cam Norrie and Jan Choinski – all three currently ranked inside the world’s top 90.

Fery is set for his main draw debut at Flushing Meadows after his dream run to the semi-finals at Wimbledon, becoming only the second wild card in history to make the final four.

30-year-old Norrie is a former Grand Slam semi-finalist himself at Wimbledon and also achieved a career-best fourth round at the US Open in 2022. Norrie’s best result this season has been a quarter-final run at the BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells.

Choinski has been in strong form of late, breaking into the top 100 for the first time at the Lexus Eastbourne Open, winning in the first round of Wimbledon and claiming another ATP Challenger title in Braunschweig.

Qualifying entry list

Jack Draper will likely have to come through qualifying if he is to play the main draw at the US Open this year.

The 2024 semi-finalist has dropped in the rankings after a series of injuries that have kept him out of action for much of the season. When he has played, Draper has impressed – making the quarter-finals of Indian Wells and the semi-finals in Eastbourne.

Draper won his first round at the US Open last year before withdrawing from the tournament with injury.

Elsewhere, recent Newport Challenger champion Jacob Fearnley, rising star Toby Samuel, Billy Harris and Jack Pinnington Jones are lined up to play US Open qualifying.

Like Draper, Sonay Kartal will also be aiming to make her comeback from an injury dating back to Indian Wells in March.

Kartal had made a bright start to the year, making quarter-finals in Abu Dhabi and Auckland, as well as a fourth round at Indian Wells, and will be looking to get back up and running during the US hard court swing.

Francesca Jones will play qualifying, coming off the back of a third WTA 125 singles title in Rome. They’ll be joined by Harriet Dart, Jodie Burrage, Heather Watson and Katie Swan, with others close to the cut off.
