Swansea’s vibrant tennis scene boasts over 18 public tennis venues, with 45 total courts including indoor, floodlit and all-weather facilities, so players can play all year around. A number of these are readily available to book through LTA Rally, either as pay to play or even free to book courts.

Swansea Tennis Centre also runs specific disability specific sessions through the LTA Open Court programme, which includes Visually Impaired, Learning Difficulties and Wheelchair Tennis.

Tennis lessons in Swansea

The LTA is helping players of all skill levels and ages take the first, or next, step in improving their game. There are some fantastic LTA accredited coaches in the Swansea area providing lessons, with many of them holding a Level 4 qualification.

The LTA wants to encourage you to Play Your Way and regardless of your age or ability; there are many ways to get into tennis. For anyone stepping on court for the first time or wanting to up their game, we actively encourage learning how to play tennis in Swansea.


For kids aged 4-18, the LTA Youth programme is a fantastic introduction to the sport and helps develop key skills both on and off the court. With 6 different stages, starting with Youth Start, the programme develops with the player, keeping it fresh and exciting the whole way through. This fantastic programme runs weekly sessions throughout the year and including LTA Youth and Youth Start courses.

Tennis tournaments in Swansea

Swansea is home to the Swansea Tennis Junior Championships, which would have been celebrating its 76th year in 2020. Affectionately known as the ‘Langland Bay’ the event is currently hosted by Swansea Tennis Centre across their indoor and outdoor courts. The Grade 3 Regional Level Competition takes place in the Summer Holidays and is well supported by the local community, attracting players from across both Wales and England.
