The city is home to 32 tennis venues with 138 courts across its many clubs, parks and community centres, where players can practice their skills. Sheffield’s park courts in particularly have reached record levels of popularity with many of these courts readily available to book through LTA Rally, either as pay to play or even free to book courts.

Tennis lessons in Sheffield

The LTA is helping players of all skill levels and ages take the first, or next, step in improving their game. There are some fantastic LTA accredited coaches in the Sheffield area providing lessons, with many of them holding a Level 4 qualification.

The LTA wants to encourage you to Play Your Way and regardless of your age or ability; there are many ways to get into tennis. For anyone stepping on court for the first time or wanting to up their game, we actively encourage learning how to play tennis in Sheffield.

Kids

For kids aged 4-18, the LTA Youth programme is a fantastic introduction to the sport and helps develop key skills both on and off the court. With 6 different stages, starting with Tennis for Kids, the programme develops with the player, keeping it fresh and exciting the whole way through. Adults

Tennis tournaments in Sheffield

Sheffield hosts a number of tennis tournaments and competitions throughout the year so that players of all ages and abilities can go head-to-head and compete out on court. For example, the Sheffield & District Senior tournament in June each year is the largest event based at the Hallamshire club, but also taking part at other clubs in the city.

LTA tennis in Sheffield

The LTA is proud to have a large number of LTA registered venues throughout Sheffield, providing the community with a safe and friendly tennis environment that enables all ages to come along to a local court and have fun playing tennis.

The LTA is also continuing to lead the way in providing opportunities for underserved communities to get involved in tennis through its SERVES programme. SERVES is a leading sport for development programme that takes tennis to communities and people who might not otherwise have the chance to play. Sheffield runs a SERVES session at the Stocksbridge Leisure Centre and is looking to progress more sites across the city.
