Jones wins W75 title in Prague
Jones has continued her impressive form on the clay, clinching her second title on the surface this year at the W75 Prague.
The British No.4 was unstoppable last week - sprinting to the final without dropping a set across five matches.
Jones secured a dominant 6-4, 6-0 semi-final win over Australia’s Priscillia Hon before going on to beat Japanese star Ena Shibahara 6-3, 6-4 in the final to secure the crown.
This marks Jones’ sixth ITF title since 2019 and second of the year, after she picked up the W75 Vacaria back in March.
Broom beats strong British field to defend Nottingham title
After finishing runner-up at the event the week prior, Charles Broom made it second time lucky in Nottingham after securing the M25 title.
Broom had just fallen short to George Loffhagen in the Nottingham final the week before, but carried the momentum into the second week where he successfully defended his title - marking his first trophy of the year.
During his run to the title, the top seed defeated three fellow Brits in Finn Murgett, Mark Whitehouse and Alastair Gray before capping off a memorable week with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Fabrizio Andaloro.
The title signifies the 27-year-old’s sixth ITF title of his career.
There was also success in the men’s doubles, with Liam Hignett and James MacKinlay coming through a stacked British draw.
The pair dropped just one set across the week in their semi-final clash against Millen Hurrion and Harry Wendelken, with the third seeds coming through a tight battle, 1-6, 7-6(4), 11-9.
From there, they went on to claim a convincing 6-4, 6-0 victory over fellow Brits Finn Murgett and James Story to seal their second doubles title together.
Meanwhile at the women’s W35 event, Naiktha Bains finished runner-up in both the singles and doubles draw.
The former Wimbledon doubles quarter-finalist had teamed up with compatriot Holly Hutchinson for the doubles draw, where they were narrowly beaten in the match deciding tie-break against Alice Robbe and Arlinda Rushiti, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Bains also embarked on a breakthrough week in the singles, reaching her second ITF final of the year. The 27-year-old had to bypass fellow countrywomen Mika Stojsavljevic and Emily Appleton to secure her spot in the final where she was pipped to the silverware by Spanish star Eva Guerrero Alvaraz 6-2, 7-6(7).
Lexus GB World Team Cup teams bring home three medals from Turkey
It was a week to remember for the Lexus GB World Team Cup teams in Turkey with the juniors being crowned champions and the men’s and quad teams securing bronze.
Starting off with the Lexus GB juniors team where a strong team consisting of Ruben Harris, Lucas De Gouveia, Matthew Knoesen and Will Barton topped their group with three wins over Brazil, Australia and Germany. From there, the youngsters edged a tight tie against Belgium to set up a final clash against the USA where Harris and De Gouveia claimed straight set wins over Maximus Wong and Sabina Czauz respectively to seal gold for Great Britain.
On the men’s side, rising stars Dahnon Ward, Ben Bartram and Andrew Penney spearheaded GB to six consecutive wins in the round robin group stages to reach the final four where they were narrowly beaten by Japan - sending them into a bronze medal play-off tie against France.
There, Ward defeated Geoffrey Jasiak 6-3, 6-3 before Bartram pushed his country over the line to secure the bronze thanks to a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Gaetan Menguy.
Finally, the bronze medal play-off for the quad team came down to a deciding doubles contest after Greg Slade beat Australia’s Finn Broadbent 6-4, 6-0 and Andy Lapthorne was narrowly edged out by Benjamin Wenzel 7-6(4), 6-4.
