Wimbledon 2025: Katie Boulter to play Paula Badosa & Jacob Fearnley to face Joao Fonseca as singles draw is announced

• 3 MINUTE READ

The draws for The Championships, Wimbledon have been announced as the Brits prepare to fight for the silverware in SW19, including Katie Boulter who will meet the world No.9 Paula Badosa and Jacob Fearnley who will take on rising star Joao Fonseca.

There are some blockbuster first round matches on the horizon for the Brits. Headlining the action is British No.2 Boulter who is set to take on former world No.2 Badosa in her opener.

It will mark just the second meeting between the Brit and Spaniard, with Badosa having won their only other meeting at Roland Garros last year after coming through in three sets.

Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu has set up an eye catching all-British clash against wild card Mimi Xu in her opener.

The 17-year-old rising star could pose a tough challenge for the former US Open champion, having racked up some standout results on the grass so far this summer - including a quarter-final appearance in Birmingham as well as wins in Ilkley and Nottingham.

The winner of the Raducanu vs Xu could be set to face 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova in the second round, should she win her opener against Lexus Nottingham Open champion McCartney Kessler.

Elsewhere, British No.3 Sonay Kartal will take on Jelena Ostapenko and 16-year-old wild card Hannah Klugman will go up against 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez in what is set to be a must-watch battle.

In the men's draw, British No.1 Jack Draper will open up his Wimbledon campaign against world No.38 Sebastian Baez.

Fourth seed Draper will enter with plenty of confidence after defeating Baez in all of their two previous meetings on the ATP tour.

However, should Draper get past Baez, he could face some hurdles up ahead, including a third round meeting against recently crowned Halle champion Alexander Bublik and seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals.

Jacob Fearnley is lined up for a blockbuster opener against breakthrough Brazilian star Joao Fonseca.

The 18-year-old has quickly become one of the most exciting young prospects in tennis, having skyrocketed into the world's top 60 and claimed a maiden tour-level title on the clay in Buenos Aires at the beginning of the year.

Elsewhere, another British battle awaits between Dan Evans and wild card Jay Clarke. Evans has clocked some impressive wins on the grass in recent weeks, including over world No.12 Frances Tiafoe at the HSBC Championships and world No.13 Tommy Paul in Eastbourne and will be looking to carry his grass court form into SW19.

Wild cards Johannus Monday and Arthur Fery set up first round clashes against Paul and Alexei Popyrin respectively, while Ilkely runner-up Jack Pinnington Jones will meet Argentina's Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Oliver Tarvet, who came through three rounds of qualifying to reach his first Grand Slam main draw, has drawn fellow qualifier Leandro Riedi in his first round match at the All England Club and will be one to watch this tournament.
