June Player of the Month winners announced
With voting now closed on June’s LTA Player of the Month vote, it’s time to reveal the winners from Men’s, Women’s, Doubles and Wheelchair categories.
All of the winners were all voted for by you, our LTA Advantage members.
Without further ado, here are your June Players of the Month:
Men’s: Andy Murray
Picking up the award for the second month in a row, June saw a continuation of Andy Murray’s fine form as he returned to his favourite surface for the grass court swing.
Murray continued to etch his name into the history books when he became the oldest player to win an ATP Challenger title on grass at the Lexus Surbiton Trophy before making it back-to-back titles when he was crowned the Rothesay Open Nottingham champion the following week.
His accomplishments last month saw Murray become only the third players since 2000 to win consecutive ATP Challenger grass court titles.
Women’s: Katie Boulter
June marked one of the most memorable months of Katie Boulter’s career to date - making her a worthy winner of June's Player of the Month award.
Following a week of solid performances at the Lexus Surbiton Trophy where she reached the semi-final, Boulter was crowned British No.1 for the first time in her career.
With the momentum swinging in her favour, Boulter was then spurred on to a career-first WTA title at the Rothesay Open Nottingham. She took the crown after defeating fellow Brit Jodie Burrage 6-3, 6-3 in the first all-British final since 1977, and concluded the month ranked inside the top 100.
Doubles: Liam Broady and Jonny O’Mara
Joining forces for the grass court season, Liam Broady and Jonny O’Mara got their month off to the best possible start when they lifted the Lexus Surbiton Trophy in their first tournament together.
Broady and O’Mara defeated Alexei Popyrin and Aleksander Vukic 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 in the final to clinch the doubles crown.
From there, they went on to make it back-to-back finals after reaching the final two at the Rothesay Open Nottingham, where they just lost out to fellow all-British pair Johannus Monday and Jacob Fearnley, 6-3, 6-7(6), 10-7.
Wheelchair: Alfie Hewett
A formidable force in June, Alfie Hewett secured a fourth successive Roland Garros doubles title alongside partner Gordon Reid.
The duo came out on top against Martin De La Puente and Gustavo Fernandez 7-6(9), 7-5 to seal their 17th Grand Slam title together, while Hewett also finished runner-up in the singles event.
Going from strength-to-strength, the British pair went on to secure their maiden cinch Championships doubles title after ousting Joachim Gerard and Stephane Houdet 1-6, 7-5, (10-3), with Hewett also making it to the singles final where he finished runner-up.
