Edinburgh is home to 34 tennis venues, including several park sites, and boasts 152 accessible courts for players so you can perfect your skills. A vast number of these courts are readily available for players to book through LTA Rally, either as pay to play or even free to book courts.

The Advantage Tennis programme, mainly based at the Craiglockhart Tennis Centre, also provides fantastic opportunities for players to get involved with disability tennis. The sessions, run through the LTA Open Court, support players of all ages and abilities to give them the support they need to pick up the sport and develop their skills.

Tennis lessons in Edinburgh

The LTA is helping players of all skill levels and ages take the first, or next, step in improving their game. There are some fantastic LTA accredited coaches in the Edinburgh area providing lessons, with many of them holding a Level 4 qualification.

The LTA wants to encourage you to Play Your Way and regardless of your age or ability; there are many ways to get into tennis. For anyone stepping on court for the first time or wanting to up their game, we actively encourage learning how to play tennis in Edinburgh.


For kids aged 4-18, the LTA Youth programme is a fantastic introduction to the sport and helps develop key skills both on and off the court. With 6 different stages, starting with Youth Start, the programme develops with the player, keeping it fresh and exciting the whole way through. You can find local LTA Youth programmes all over Edinburgh, including the Craiglockhart Tennis Centre, which hosts over 1,000 junior players on the programme each week.


Adults looking to work on their skills or pick up a new sport might want to try the LTA’s Tennis Xpress as a great way learn and practice your tennis. Adult coaching sessions are available at venues throughout Edinburgh, including the brilliant programme at Meadows.

Tennis tournaments in Edinburgh

Edinburgh plays host to the Scottish Junior Open and Edinburgh Junior International every year, which both take place the first two weeks of the Scottish Summer holidays at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre. These tournaments are for the highest level of juniors, players attend from across the UK and Europe.
