Five British players are currently ranked inside the ATP doubles top 10 for the first time in the Open Era.
The ATP top 10 is led by No.1 ranked pair and Wimbledon champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, alongside Australian Open champion Henry Patten, and Roland Garros and US Open runners-up Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury.
It is the first time in 32 years that five players from one nation have featured together in the ATP doubles top 10. Great Britain is the third nation to achieve this feat after USA and Australia.
Cash, Glasspool and Patten have all achieved career-high rankings this season as the world No.1, No.2 and No.3 respectively.
Across an incredible season for British doubles, each of the four Grand Slam events featured a British player in the men’s final.
All five players have also qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin from 9-16 November. The Nitto ATP Finals brings together the top eight doubles pairs in the world to compete for the end of season championship.
It is testament to the strength and depth in British doubles at the moment, with a total of seven players inside the ATP top 50 and eight in the top 100.
The story has been similar in the women’s game as well. British No.1 Olivia Nicholls reached a career-high world No.23 earlier this season after making the final in Indian Wells and winning the WTA 500 title in Berlin.
There are seven British players in the WTA top 150 currently – including British No.2 Maia Lumsden, Emily Appleton, Madeline Brooks, Harriet Dart, Alicia Barnett and Jodie Burrage.
