Returning to the Australian Open after reaching back-to-back finals in 2020 and 2021, Salisbury and Ram progressed to the semi-finals without dropping a set before losing to Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in 6-3, 7-6(9).
March
Salisbury and Ram defeated compatriot Neal Skupski and Germany’s Wesley Koolhof 7-6(4), 7-5 in the quarter-finals of Indian Wells. Their final hopes came to an end against French, Mexican duo Édouard Roger-Vasselin and Santiago González in the semi-final, losing 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Salisbury and Ram had a very successful start to the Miami Open, beating British, Australian partnership, Lloyd Glasspool and Michael Venus, booking themselves a spot in the second round where they narrowly beat world No.5, Stefanos Tsitsipas and partner, Feliciano Lopez 7-5, 7-6(2). Both victories will see Salisbury rise to world No.1 on Monday, becoming only the third Brit to do so in the Open Era.
Salisbury and Ram met wild card pairing John Isner and Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open. The match ended in a defeat for the new world No.1 with the eventual champions edging through 7-6(7), 6-3.
April
Third time lucky for Salisbury and Ram in Monacco as the duo won their first title of the season after defeating Colombian pair, Robert Farah and Juan Sebastián Cabal, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Salisbury kick started his year reaching the Australian Open mens doubles final with partner Rajeev Ram, losing to Dodig and Polasek in straight sets but defeating Jamie Murray in the semis. The pair reached the semi-finals in Acapulco and Miami and Barcelona. Their strong start to the year continued as they reached the ATP Masters 1000 Rome final - narrowly losing to world no.1 Mate Pavic and no.4 Nikola Mektic. He then joined up with Desirae Krawczyk to lift his second Grand Slam title in the French Open mixed doubles.
Salisbury and Ram also reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, with the Brit also making the final of the mixed doubles with Harriet Dart. Later that month he joined forces with Andy Murray to reach the quarter-finals of the men's doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
In August, Salisbury and Ram won their maiden ATP Masters 1000 title in Toronto, ending Pavic and Mektic's 18-match unbeaten run to lift the trophy.
The British, American duo then turned their attention to the US Open, where they secured their second men's doubles Grand Slam title together, beating Murray and Bruno Soares in three-sets. The next day, Salisbury returned to court in the mixed doubles final with Krawczyk, where he won fourth career title. He became the first man since Bob Bryan in 2011 to win both the US Open men's and mixed doubles titles.
Salisbury's strong season continued late into the year - he backed up his US Open double by winning the ATP 250 San Diego title with Neal Skupski. Salisbury and Ram then returned to Vienna where they won their first title together, reaching the final once again but losing out to Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah.
Won first Grand Slam title at Australian Open alongside Rajeev Ram. Reached the quarter-final at Roland Garros with Ram, losing out to home favourites Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin. Won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in March, defeating Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff in the final.

Titles in Vienna and Dubai in 2019 secured Salisbury and Ram's place in their first Nitto ATP Finals as one of the top doubles pairs of the season and returned to the O2 again in 2020.
He made his breakthrough reaching the semi-finals in the 2018 Wimbledon men's doubles thanks to a wild card, in partnership with Frederik Nielsen. Playing alongside Ben McLachlan, he won his first ATP Tour title later that year at the 2018 Shenzhen Open.
Salisbury made his ATP main draw debut at the 2014 U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships in the doubles draw partnering David O'Hare, where they lost to the Bryan brothers in the first round.
