Dates: 31 May – 8 June

Event level: WTA 125 and ATP Challenger 125

For the first time, the Edgbaston Priory Club welcomes a combined men’s and women’s grass court tournament to kickstart the summer of British tennis.

Birmingham has long been a top destination for many world class players over the years – including past champions Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova, Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams – and in 2025 there’s plenty more for fans to be excited for.

The big question coming into this year’s tournament is which Brits will be able to seize their opportunity to get out to a fast start on the grass.

Rising star Sonay Kartal will lead the charge for the Brits off the back of an incredible 12 months where she’s won her first WTA title in Monastir, made her Billie Jean King Cup debut and reached the world’s top 60.

She’s joined by a strong cast of competitors that include fellow Brit Harriet Dart but will also have to compete with the likes of Miami Open semi-finalist Alexandra Eala, American Alycia Parks and more.

Former British No.1 and Birmingham-native Dan Evans will feature in the brand-new men’s event, hoping to add to his list of grass court titles from Surbiton and Nottingham.

However, 2014 US Open champion and former Queen’s Club winner Marin Cilic will be one to watch as well, alongside France’s Quentin Halys and Britain’s Billy Harris.

With a fresh new look, new history to be made, and new storylines to unfold – the Lexus Birmingham Open is a can’t miss event this summer.

HSBC Championships (WTA)

Dates: 7-15 June

Event level: WTA 500

For the first time in over 50 years, the queens of tennis return to The Queen’s Club for an action-packed week of women’s tennis at the HSBC Championships.

The HSBC Championships is now a two-week event at the prestigious Queen’s Club, starting with a WTA 500 tournament, bringing together the biggest names in the world of tennis.

Given that it’s a new event in the calendar and for almost all the players, this will be their first time playing at the club, this year’s event promises to throw up lots of exciting stories, plenty of upsets and will also carry the added pressure of becoming the first name on the new trophy.

From a British standpoint, two-time Nottingham champion Katie Boulter and former US Open title-winner Emma Raducanu will be hoping to make the home advantage count as they get set for their Queen’s debuts.

However, the competition is fierce coming into the HSBC Championships, with a total of six Grand Slam title winners in the line-up, including Raducanu, Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova, Barbora Krejcikova, Elena Rybakina, and 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys.

The HSBC Championships is arguably the most difficult tournament to call this summer and with all the action across the BBC you can watch every point live – or even snap up one of the few remaining tickets.

Lexus Ilkley Open

Dates: 8-15 July

Event level: WTA 125 and ATP Challenger 125

Bigger and better than ever – West Yorkshire’s festival of tennis returns at the Lexus Ilkley Open.

Upgraded to a WTA 125 women’s event alongside the ATP Challenger men’s tournament, this year’s Lexus Ilkley Open promises more of the world’s best players, the next generation of stars and many familiar British faces.

Former Nottingham, Birmingham and Eastbourne quarter-finalist and British No.4 Dart will lead the challenge for the home fans in the women’s singles. Last year Dart had a career-best third round run at Wimbledon and has always brought her best tennis on the grass so she’ll fancy her chances at a deep run in Ilkley.

Canadian Rebecca Marino will be aiming to retain what was the joint biggest title of her career last year after she came back to beat Jessika Ponchet in the final, who is also in the line-up for 2025. Phillipine’s Eala, Maya Joint, Yulia Starodubtseva and Olivia Gadecki make up four top 100 players on the bill for the upgraded event.

Meanwhile, 2023 Wimbledon semi-finalist Cam Norrie is the star name on the billing for this year’s men’s event. A former world No.8, Indian Wells title winner and Queen’s Club runner-up, Norrie has been one of the biggest stars in British and world tennis over recent years and will be hoping he can claim a first career grass court title in Ilkley.

Standing in his way, arguably the player of last summer Harris, who reached the semi-finals in Surbiton, Nottingham and Eastbourne, as well as a quarter-final at Queen’s. He’s joined by former Wimbledon quarter-finalist Christopher Eubanks, Kamil Majchrzak, Brandon Holt, Cilic and more.

Tickets are still available for Ilkley. Centre Court tickets start from £30, with grounds admission tickets starting from £17 for adults and £10 for kids.

HSBC Championships (ATP)

2024-Jack-Draper-Cinch-R2.jpg

Dates: 14-22 June

Event level: ATP 500

One of the most anticipated and historic events in the ATP calendar, the men’s ATP 500 event at the HSBC Championships is set to be another blockbuster.

Last year brought us several big headlines – Jack Draper’s first win over Carlos Alcaraz, Tommy Paul’s maiden grass court title, Harris breaking new ground with his first ATP quarter-final and Neal Skupski becoming the doubles champion.

For a tournament that boasts a list of champions that includes Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick and more – what’s in store for 2025?

Well, we know it’s going to be competitive, with an exciting line-up of stars. Now world No.5 Draper is one of six top 10 players set to battle it out for the title at the event where the British No.1 made his tour debut in 2021. Now with three ATP titles to his name, could this be the year Draper brings home the Queen’s crown?

2023 champion and back-to-back Wimbledon title-winner Alcaraz will have something to say about that. The world No.2 has lost just one match on grass over the last two seasons and will be a favourite’s pick for the title this time around.

Three-time Eastbourne champion and world No.4 Taylor Fritz will also be one to watch in and amongst in-form stars Lorenzo MusettiAlex de Minaur, Holger Rune and the defending champion Paul.

Expect all the drama, excitement and world class tennis action we know and love at The Queen’s Club and lock in for another historic week in West London.

Lexus Nottingham Open

Dates: 14-22 June

Event level: WTA 250 and ATP Challenger 125

No tournament across the grass court season has seen more British success in recent years than the Lexus Nottingham Open.

In 2024, the tournament saw British champions in both the women’s and men’s singles for the second consecutive year, with Boulter and Jacob Fearnley lifting the respective titles.

British No.1 Boulter has confirmed her place again this year as the Leicester-born star aims to complete a hat-trick of titles at the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre. No other player in tournament history has won three consecutive singles titles in Nottingham – so can Boulter write her name in the history books this summer?

It’s just one of many intriguing stories for what is the 10-year anniversary of the WTA event in Nottingham. 2022 champion Beatriz Haddad Maia will be hoping to reignite the form that saw her win in Nottingham and Birmingham three years ago.

Former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova will no doubt be a danger back on one of her favourite surfaces and can Leylah Fernandez find the spark that took her to a US Open final?

As well as the world class action throughout the week at the Lexus Nottingham Open, there’s lots going on around the grounds for ticketholders to get involved in. Pick up a racket and have a go at the Family Fun Weekend, discover you love for padel with an open session or watch pro wheelchair tennis stars in a unique exhibition.

Tickets are still available for this year’s Lexus Nottingham Open, with Centre Court tickets starting from just £13, grounds admission tickets starting from £12 for adults and kids go free.

He’ll face strong competition from some of the game’s rising stars this year, including 19-year-old Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik, Britain’s very own Fearnley, who has fired himself into the world’s top 60 in his first 12 months on the ATP Tour, and Brazilian sensation Joao Fonseca.

Another defending champion returning this summer will be Daria Kasatkina – who defeated Raducanu, Wimbledon runner-up Jasmine Paolini, and Fernandez en-route to the title.

The biggest wheelchair and junior tennis grass court tournament in the build up to Wimbledon, the Lexus British Open Roehampton, will take place at the Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre.

Hewett, who last year had to pull out of the men’s final, went on to win his first Wimbledon title and has gone from strength to strength since, adding a 10th Grand Slam singles trophy in Melbourne this year.
