Highlights:

Day One: Jubb and Peniston lead the way to round two

It's been a strong day for the British stars in Wimbledon qualifying, with five men's singles players through to the second round - including Paul Jubb, Ryan Peniston, Oliver Tarvert, Oliver Bonding, and Hamish Stewart

Jubb leads the charge into round two after he breezed past former top 100 player Thiago Agustin Tirante 6-3, 6-2.

The Brit broke the Argentinian’s serve five times and saved six of seven break points faced as he bids to make the main draw for a fourth time in his career.

Peniston also booked his place in the second round after he quickly saw off former world No. 55 Facundo Bagnis 6-3, 6-1.

The Brit who made the second round of Wimbledon in 2022, got a crucial double break in both sets to ease into round two where he’ll face Lexus Nottingham Open semi-finalist Martin Landaluce.

They'll be joined by Tarvert, who has been playing in the NCAA collegiate system at the University of San Diego, after he defeated Terence Atmane 6-1, 7-6(7).

The 21-year-old is making his Wimbledon qualifying debut this year, his 22 winners past the Frenchman to book a second round clash with Canada’s Alexis Galarneau who will also be hoping to reach his maiden main draw.

The final Brit taking their spot in the second round after today's matches is 18-year-old Bonding - he beat Viktor Durasovic 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.

The young Brit, who won his first pro title earlier this year, dug deep after losing the second set to get the decisive break in the third to seal the victory.

Stewart is also through to the second round after Valentin Vacherot retired in their match at 4-6, 5-6.

Stewart was a set down when he saved a match point opportunity and pushed the set towards a tie break when his opponent stepped down.

Giles Huessey put up a strong fight against Denmark’s August Holmgren 6-4, 3-6, 5-7 as he bowed out in the opening round.

Jan Choinski missed out on a spot in the second round losing 6-3, 4-6, 3-6 to Mark Lajal who booked his spot in the 2024 main draw through qualifying.

James Story lost out 6-0, 6-2 to world No.107 Tomas Barrios Vera, while Alastair Gray was defeated by France's Arthur Bouquier 7-5, 3-6, 4-6.
