Continuous personal development for officials
The LTA are dedicated to the ongoing development of officials, to support them in delivering tennis and padel competitions across England, Scotland and Wales. Each year, we create new courses and resources to keep officials up to date on rule changes, new procedures and other relevant learning.

Referees, Umpires and Court Supervisors are required to complete 8 hours of learning (equivalent to 8 CPD credits) each year to renew their LTA Official Licence.
The National Officiating Conference is an annual event organised for Licensed Officials, across all officiating roles. It is a great opportunity to connect with and network with fellow Officials as well as gaining CPD credits.
Hosted at the National Tennis Centre, in-person Conference attendees receive lunch and refreshments as well as a free gift for attending. Some of the sessions are also available for remote attendance via Zoom. Each year there are world class Keynote Speakers delivering sessions as well as a variety of interactive workshops to choose from.
This year the Conference will be held on Saturday 18th and Sunday 29th November at the National Tennis Centre. This year's theme is 'Elevating Every Match: Building a Positive Competition Experience Together'.
The Keynote speakers this year are Professor Chris Harwood, James Keothavong MBE and Denise Parnell.
Chris will be covering empathetic listening and how to support Parents and Players with excellent communication. James will be talking about this journey in officiating to becoming one of the world's top Chair Umpires. Denise will be talking about what she has learnt as Wimbledon's first female Referee.

Officials need to complete the Safeguarding in Tennis Together (Officials) course every three years for their Official Licence, and this course offers 2 CPD credits.
Officials also receive 6 CPD credits for doing an Emergency First Aid at Work course, although this isn’t mandatory training for their Official Licence.
