To mark the end of another unforgettable year for tennis, we're looking back on some of the best matches of the 2025 tennis season.

Grand Slam victories, career-defining finals, battles against the world No.1 and more - this year has treated us to some memorable matches we'll be thinking about for years to come.

Take a look back at our seven top matches of 2025 and don't forget to have your say and vote for the match that stood above the rest.

Indian Wells final - Jack Draper beat Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2

One of the biggest matches of Jack Draper’s season came in the final of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells when he took on Denmark’s Holger Rune.

Having already bypassed Joao Fonseca, Jenson Brooksby, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz, Draper was fired up for the final in the Californian desert and produced a dominant display against the Dane.

The British No.1 dropped just four games on his way to beating Rune 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 10 minutes to lift a career-first Masters 1000 title.

“I wasn’t expecting this," Draper said. "I’ve put in a lot of work over time. I’m just so grateful and so happy to be out here to be able to play, my body feeling healthy, to feel great in the mind. Just all the work I’ve done over the last few years, it feels like it’s coming together on the big stage and I can’t put that into words.”

Wimbledon third round - Aryna Sabalenka beat Emma Raducanu 7-6(6), 6-4

Emma Raducanu’s blockbuster clash against world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka was not just one of the matches of this year’s Wimbledon, but also a contender for one of the WTA matches of the year.

It’s not often that a British player faces the world No.1 on Centre Court at Wimbledon and Raducanu well and truly rose to the occasion under the lights in front of her home crowd.

Raducanu brought the aggression to her battle against the top seed, breaking for a 4-2 lead in the opening set. Even after Sabalenka drew back level, Raducanu didn’t back down and continued to fight her way through to a tie-break where she narrowly lost out after a gruelling 74 minutes.

The former US Open champion opened up another 4-1 lead in the second set to keep the British crowd’s hopes alive but couldn’t sustain her lead, as the world No.1 reeled off the last five games in a row to secure a place in the fourth round.

Although Raducanu came out on the losing side, she was still part of one of the tournament’s most memorable matches and carried the lessons into her second match against Sabalenka, where she managed to take a set off the world No.1 at the Cincinnati Open.

Wimbledon fourth round - Cam Norrie beat Nicolas Jarry  6-3, 7-6(4), 6-7(7), 6-7(5), 6-3

From one standout Wimbledon matchto the next, it’s hard to forget Cam Norrie’s nail-biting five-set thriller against Nicolas Jarry in the fourth round of The Championships.

Norrie looked well on his way to securing a straight sets win over the big-serving Chilean qualifier as he opened up a two sets lead on No.1 Court. Into the third set tie-break and Norrie brought up his first match point but couldn’t convert as Jarry shifted the momentum to take the third and fourth sets and force a decider.

Jarry fired home an astonishing 103 winners during their four-and-a-half-hour-long battle but that didn’t stop Norrie from taking the reins in the fifth. Just over two hours after his first match point, the Brit sealed his victory and a spot in his second Wimbledon quarter-final.

China Open fourth round - Sonay Kartal beat Mirra Andreeva 7-5, 2-6, 7-5

This year saw Sonay Kartal clinch her biggest win by ranking after securing her first top 10 victory over Doha and Indian Wells champion Mirra Andreeva at the China Open.

On her debut in Beijing, Kartal ticked off another milestone by ousting then world No.5 Andreeva 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 in their first meeting against each other to reach her maiden WTA 1000 quarter-final.

Fourth seed Andreeva managed to level the contest to a set apiece after firing her way through the second set to force a decider. There, Kartal ramped up the aggression once again before holding for a 6-5 lead.#

With the pressure mounting, the 18-year-old found herself in trouble as Kartal threatened the late break with a forehand winner to set up her second match point, which she soon converted as Andreeva sent a forehand wide.

Australian Open final - Alfie Hewett beat Tokito Oda 6-4, 6-4

Alfie Hewett's rivalry with Japan's Tokito Oda is one of the most captivating rivalries in wheelchair tennis.

Each meeting between the pair has been a gripping encounter, with the Brit clinching victory over the 19-year-old at Melbourne Park back in January to win his second Australian Open singles crown and 10th Grand Slam title overall.

It marked the second time Hewett beat Oda in three successive Australian Open finals, after the world No.2 claimed the title back in 2023. The 28-year-old needed just an hour and 36 minutes to wrap up the 6-4, 6-4 victory over his biggest rival and did so in emphatic fashion by hitting a powerful forehand into the corner of the court which Oda sent long.

His victory down under spurred Hewett on to another stellar year on the Uniqlo Wheelchair Tennis Tour where he won six singles and six doubles titles.

Australian Open final - Henry Patten & Harri Heliovaara beat Simone Bolelli & Andrea Vavassori 6-7(16), 7-6(5), 6-3

This year saw British doubles star Henry Patten add his second career Grand Slam doubles title at the Australian Open and what better way to secure it than coming through a three hour epic.

Contesting their first final at Melbourne Park, the British, Finnish duo took on third seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. The Italians clinched a gruelling first set tie-break 18-16, before Patten and Heliovaara fought back in the second to force the decider.

There, the former Wimbledon champions broke in the first game before Patten went on to seal their second major title with an ace after three hours and seven minutes of play in the Australian heat.

Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers - Katie Boulter & Jodie Burrage beat Demi Schuurs & Suzan Lammens 6-2, 6-2

There are few better feelings than winning a tie for your country. At this year’s Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers in April, Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage combined for the first time in their deciding doubles rubber against Netherlands’ Demi Schuurs and Suzan Lammens. The prize for the winner? A spot on the plane to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen.

Heading into the high-stakes match, Boulter and Burrage had only ever played one match together but played a solid match against a Dutch team who hadn’t lost in all eight matches as a team.

The Brits needed just an hour and 19 minutes to dismantle the Netherlands 6-2, 6-2 and secure their spot in the Finals.

"That was my first win for my country - I’m unbelievably proud to say that," Burrage said after the tie. "It was great the way the day unfolded, the pressure was on us but we came out firing and I was very happy to do it with one of my best friends as well."
