Burrage and Raducanu receive main draw wildcards at Viking Open Nottingham

• 2 MINUTE READ

British stars Jodie Burrage and Emma Raducanu are set to kick start their grass court season at the Viking Open Nottingham this week after receiving wildcards into the main draw.

The WTA event gets underway on Sunday 06 June, with Burrage and Raducanu joining a host of world-class talent, including two time finalist Johanna Konta, 2017 champion Donna Vekić and British No.2 Heather Watson.

Having impressed in the British events last year, 22-year-old Burrage has had a strong start to the season so far. Having won her second W25 singles event in Dubai in April, the Brit then followed that up with a doubles title in Salinas last month. This will be Burrage’s first time playing the main draw in Nottingham and she’ll be keen to show her quality when the tournament begins on Sunday.

One of the brightest stars in British tennis, Raducanu is set to return to Tour action this week for the first time this year. The 18-year-old impressed at last year’s Battle of the Brits, where she defeated both Katie Boulter and Burrage, and also took home titles at the British Tour and UK Pro Series. Another Nottingham debutant, fans will be excited to see the young Brit competing on home soil once again.
