Wild cards have been announced ahead of the WTA 250 and ATP Challenger event at the Lexus Nottingham Open - including a strong line up of British talent.
Grass court season will make its way to the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre for a week of show-stopping tennis from 14-22 June.
A strong British contingent is already set to contest the title with two-time defending champion Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal receiving direct entry to the main draw. The entry list also sees the likes of Petra Kvitova, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Leylah Fernandez and more who will be gunning to etch their name on the trophy.
On the women’s side, Harriet Dart, Francesca Jones, and rising stars Mimi Xu and Hannah Klugman have all received wild cards to the main draw.
George Loffhagen, Jack Pinnington Jones and Ryan Peniston have been rewarded with wild cards to the main draw of the ATP Challenger event.
Dart is a previous quarter-finalist at Nottingham having reached the last eight in 2023 where she lost out to Boulter. The Brit is currently contesting her first tournament of the grass court swing in Ilkley where she clinched her first win over fellow Brit Amelia Rajecki on her way to the second round.
She’s joined by British No.4 Jones who enjoyed a run to the quarter-finals in Nottingham last year. The 23-year-old secured wins over Caroline Dolehide and Ashlyn Krueger before being forced to withdraw from her quarter-final match against compatriot and friend Emma Raducanu in the quarter-finals.
Now set to be back in action, Jones will be hoping she can surpass last year’s performance as she looks to add a maiden WTA 125 crown to her trophy haul.
We might only be a couple of weeks into the grass court swing, but Xu has been one of the standout players so far - having reached her maiden WTA 125 quarter-final in Birmingham and the second round at Ilkley. The 18-year-old has been getting used to performing on the ITF circuit and will be one to watch at next week’s tournament.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Klugman will also have the opportunity to leave her mark on the grass in Nottingham off the back of a standout run to the final of the Roland Garros girls’ singles draw.
The youngster became the first British player to reach the junior finals at Roland Garros in 49 years, where she eventually finished runner-up.
Pinnington Jones has also been given a wild card to the ATP Challenger event off the back of a standout week in Ilkley, where he is set to compete in the semi-finals.
The 22-year-old has dropped just one set on his way to the final four and will look to carry his momentum into Nottingham next week.
The Lexus Nottingham Open will mark Loffhagen's first grass court tournament of the summer.
Two years ago, the 24-year-old claimed his maiden ATP Challenger win at the tournament before going on to reach the quarter-finals and will be eager to get off to a winning start upon his return.
Peniston takes the last main draw wild card while Arthur Fery, Oliver Bonding and Paul Jubb have been awarded wild cards into the qualifying rounds.
