Davis Cup 2026: Toby Samuel joins squad to face Ecuador

Toby Samuel will join as the fifth member of the Lexus Great Britain Davis Cup squad to face Ecuador at London’s Copper Box Arena from 19-20 September.
The 23-year-old has been selected for the British team for the first time following an impressive year on tour.
Samuel joins British No.1 Arthur Fery and Cam Norrie, alongside doubles world No.1 Henry Patten and Lloyd Glasspool as a five-strong team to face Ecuador.
Great Britain need to defeat Ecuador to qualify for the Davis Cup Finals in November.

Samuel has been one of the Britain’s breakout tennis stars of the season so far.
A former NCAA star at the University of South Carolina, where he became the No.1 doubles player in the nation, Samuel won his first ATP Challenger title in November last year in Soma Bay.
Since then, his success has only continued – lifting five Challenger trophies in less than 12 months.
This summer, Samuel reached his first ATP Tour semi-final at the Lexus Eastbourne Open and came just one game away from making the final in a defeat to eventual champion Zizou Bergs.
He earnt himself a wild card for Wimbledon, where he made his Grand Slam singles debut. Samuel showed his level once again in a first round match with world No.15 Jakub Mensik, losing in a dramatic fifth set tie-break.
Samuel went on to qualifier for this year’s US Open and got his first major victory over Czech star Tomas Mahac.
His impressive results in New York should see him rise inside the world’s top-100 for the first time after the US Open is finished.
