Wrexham and Nottingham to host world class tennis as remainder of 2025 LTA Performance Competitions Calendar confirmed

• 2 MINUTE READ

The LTA has today revealed the rest of its Performance Competitions Calendar for 2025, with new events in Wrexham and Nottingham confirmed, along with a number of other senior and junior domestic events.

Announced in March, today’s calendar confirms that the Lexus Wrexham Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour W100 event, will take place at Wrexham Tennis and Padel Centre in the week beginning the 20th of October. Replacing the Lexus W100 Shrewsbury, won last year by British rising star Sonay Kartal, the event remains the highest-level event to take place in Britain outside of the grass court season, and will be the highest-level event to take place in Wales since the 1996 Rover British Clay Court Championships, part of the WTA Tour, held in Cardiff.

On the men’s side, a new ATP Challenger 50 event will be held at the Lexus Nottingham Tennis centre during the second week of Wimbledon. After ATP Challenger events earlier in the year in Nottingham and Glasgow, this new event will provide an opportunity for spectators who want to get their live tennis fix, but can’t make it to SW19, to see world-class tennis on their doorstep.

In addition to the events in Wrexham and Nottingham, ITF World Tennis Tour events will be held across the country as part of the Lexus British Pro Series. Glasgow, Aldershot, Edgbaston, Sheffield and the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton are all confirmed as hosts of ITF events, providing prize money and ranking point earning opportunities to British players on home soil.

On the wheelchair side, after successful ITF 3 and ITF 2 events in Bolton earlier this year, wheelchair tennis will be returning to Abingdon, as the town hosts its annual ITF Futures Series event from the 31st October to the 2nd November. This event has seen current Lexus GB World Team Cup stars Dahnon Ward and Abbie Breakwell take home titles in recent years, with more of Britain’s future wheelchair tennis stars set to feature.

Kirsty Thomson, LTA Event Manager, said, “We’re delighted to be able to confirm the remainder of our 2025 Performance Competitions Calendar today. Adding the Lexus Wrexham Open and the new ATP Challenger event in Nottingham, among others, to our 2025 roster of events provides further domestic opportunities for British players to compete for international ranking points and prize money, helping homegrown talent to progress on the global stage.”

In recent years, leading British players including Sonay Kartal, Henry Patten, and Julian Cash have taken advantage of the opportunities afforded by the LTA’s Performance Competitions Calendar, enabling them to rise up the tour rankings. British players have already tasted success on home soil in 2025, with George Loffhagen, Amarni Banks, and Charles Broom among those to lift titles.
