Mutua Madrid Open 2026: Draws announced with Katie Boulter & Cam Norrie set to compete

• 1 minute read

The draws have been announced for the Mutua Madrid Open with action set to get underway from Tuesday 21 April.

Katie Boulter and Cam Norrie will lead the challenge for the Brits in Madrid, with more players competing in qualifying.

Boulter will begin her campaign against American Taylor Townsend in the first round before a potential meeting with fifth seed Jessica Pegula.

The British No.3 reached the quarter-finals in Rouen last week and will be hoping to build on those positive results.

Boulter has defeated Townsend in all three of their previous meetings, but haven’t played since Beijing in 2024. Townsend did reach the final of the ATX Open WTA 250 back in February and has been in good form this season.

A win would see Boulter play Pegula in the second round, with the American coming off the back of her second WTA title of the season in Charleston.

British No.1 Emma Raducanu announced at the weekend that she has withdrawn from the Madrid Open due to injury.

In the men’s singles main draw British No.1 Norrie has a bye into the second round coming in as the 19th seed.

He'll play either Tomas Mahac or Francisco Comesana in the second round before a potential meeting with 15th seed and recent Houston champion Tommy Paul.

The 30-year-old also features in the same quarter of the draw as top seed and world No.1 Jannik Sinner.

Norrie made the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open last week after a second round outing at Monte Carlo.

Billy Harris and Jan Choinski are both in qualifying action. Harris will play Spain’s Daniel Merida in the first round of qualifying while Choinski faces Henrique Rocha of Portugal.
