Fresh off the back of reaching his first clay court final at the Mutua Madrid Open, Draper once again showed his quality in a quarter-final run in Rome.

The world No.5 opened his account with victories over world No.46 Luca Darderi and Vit Kopriva, before stages a comeback win over Corentin Moutet 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth round.

In the quarter-finals he faced reigning Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz, narrowly losing to the third seed in their third match of the season 6-4, 6-4.

The British star is currently third in the ATP Race to Turin heading into the second Grand Slam of the season at Roland Garros.

Jacob Fearnley lost out in the second round against Matteo Berrettini 6-4, 7-6(0), while Cam Norrie was defeated by Daniil Medvedev in round two as well.

Spain’s Alcaraz eventually took home the Italian Open title after beating world No.1 and home favourite Jannik Sinner in the final 7-6(5), 6-1.

In the second round she defeated Swiss star Jil Teichmann and went on to knock out world No.50 Veronika Kudermetova 5-7, 6-0, 6-1 in the third round.

The 22-year-old’s journey came to an end in the fourth round against world No,3 and eventual runner-up Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-2.

Sonay Kartal made the second round before losing out to 30th seed Linda Noskova 6-4, 6-2, while Katie Boulter bowed out in the opening round to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
