The third seeds were made to work for it the final up against two current top 15 singles stars. After losing the first set, Patten and Heliovaara waited patiently for their opportunity and managed to break at 4-3 in the second set on only their second break point of the match.

The teams remained neck and neck throughout the match tie-break – but a run of three consecutive points at 6-6 set up three championship points, which they took at the third time of asking.
