Glasgow and Shrewsbury to host major ITF tournaments as part of LTA Performance Competitions Calendar

We have announced confirmed dates for events on its Performance Competitions Calendar for the second half of 2023, with a mix of domestic and international tour events announced for adult and junior categories.

The Performance Competitions Calendar is designed to provide significantly enhanced opportunities for British players at each age and stage of the player pathway, from 9U through to junior international events, and prize money tournaments complementing ITF World Tennis Tour events.

After a hugely successful event in 2022, Shrewsbury will once again play host to some of the world’s best from the 16 October with an ITF women’s $100K event.

The following week, Glasgow will host ITF women’s $60K and men’s $25K events, with further hopes of homegrown success after an all-British final in 2022 between Heather Watson and Lily Miyazaki in which Miyazaki emerged triumphant.

Further ITF events taking place as part of the Lexus GB Pro Series before the end of 2023 will take place in Sunderland, Edgbaston, Aldershot, Foxhills, Nottingham, and at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

Domestic players will also have the chance to shine in further Lexus British Tour events taking place across the country from Taunton to Glasgow over the coming months, and in this year’s County Week, taking place from the 24 July at venues across the country, with Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park once again hosting men’s and women’s Group 1 action.

On the junior side, Bradfield and Loughborough will host junior ITF events for 18U players in August and October, while Nottingham will play host to the 14U, 12U and 11U Lexus Junior National Championships, and the 10U and 9U Lexus National Tour.

Kirsty Thomson, Event Manager at the LTA said, “We’re really looking forward to hosting even more high-quality events for players right across the country, for all different age groups and levels. Giving as many opportunities as possible for British players to earn ranking points and prize money is vital, and I’m delighted that tournaments such as the ITF $100K in Shrewsbury and ITF $60k in Glasgow will do just that.”
