Wimbledon 2025: Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool reach men’s doubles final

• 2 MINUTE READ

British doubles duo Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool are through to their first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon after knocking out fourth seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

Cash and Glasspool needed just over an hour to defeat the Roland Garros champions 6-3, 6-4 to book their spot in Saturday’s final.

They become the first all-British team to make the men’s doubles final at The Championships for 65 years and will be aiming to be crowned as the first title winners since 1936.

They will be hoping to continue the run British champions in the men’s doubles, joining Neal Skupski (2023) and Henry Patten (2024) in recent years.

Awaiting them in the final will be the unseeded team of Rinky Hijikata and David Pel, who saved match points to beat top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic in the second semi-final of the day.

The final will be held as the first match on Centre Court on Saturday 12 July.

Cash and Glasspool have been almost unstoppable on the grass this season – boasting a 16-1 record since the start of June with titles at the HSBC Championships and Lexus Eastbourne Open. They are currently on a 13-match winning streak.

This will be their eighth final in what has been an incredible season for the British pair so far, with other trophies coming in Brisbane and Doha.

It was a statement opening game from the British pair as 31-year-old Glasspool hit three aces to get them off to a solid start and they only got better as the match went on.

At 3-2, locked at 40-40, Cash and Glasspool produced back-to-back return winners to seize the opening break and take a comfortable lead into the rest of the match.

The Brits were a class above on the return, particularly on the second serve, where they won 53% (9/17) of points. Early in the second set at 1-1, Glasspool countered a serve and volley with a precise lob to set up another two break points before another clean backhand winner from his partner moved them one step closer to a place in the final.

Glasspool showed yesterday his confidence on serve in the big moments with a 116mph second serve on match point in the final set tie-break, and the Birmingham-native was at it again on No.1 Court.

The British star fired three unreturnable serves to win the final game to love before sending the ball into the stands in celebration.

After today’s result, both players are at a career-high in the live ATP rankings – Glasspool at No.6 and Cash set to debut in the top 10.

There are currently three Brits in the ATP top 10 and five in the top 20, including Patten, Skupski and Joe Salisbury.
