Davis Cup 2026: Neal Skupski added to GB squad for Ecuador tie

Reigning Australian Open and US Open champion Neal Skupski is set to join the Lexus Great Britain Davis Cup team to face Ecuador from 19-20 September.
Fresh off the back of his title run in New York, Skupski will come in to play in the Davis Cup Qualifier second round tie at the Copper Box Arena in London.
Skupski and world No.1 Henry Patten are the two doubles specialists in Captain Leon Smith’s side, alongside singles stars Arthur Fery, Cam Norrie and Toby Samuel.
Skupski will arrive at the Davis Cup straight after winning his third career Grand Slam men's doubles title and his second of the 2026 season.
He is now the only British player to win major men's doubles titles at three different Grand Slam tournaments and one of only six partnerships in history to complete the Australian Open and US Open double in a single year.
"It’s something that I always love," Skupski said on playing the Davis Cup. "It’s my favourite week of the year. I’ve missed the last couple of ties but it’s great to be back in the team and I’m very much looking forward to it.
"Hopefully we can do it this week at the Copper Box against Ecuador and I’m sure it will be packed out and the fans will get behind us."
The 36-year-old has played in 15 Davis Cup ties for Great Britain and has a winning record of 10-5.
He has played in the British team for six consecutive seasons and has been at the heart of some of the team’s biggest wins in recent memory.
His decisive victory over France in the 2023 Finals Group Stage alongside Dan Evans – defeating Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 1-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(6) – remains one of the most memorable Davis Cup matches in recent history.
Skupski and Patten have played together just once before at the Davis Cup at the 2024 Finals Group Stage in Manchester. In what was Patten’s Davis Cup debut and only previous match for his country, the Brits beat Canadian duo Gabriel Diallo and Alexis Galarneau in straight sets.
