Billie Jean King Cup 2026: Great Britain to face Australia in Qualifiers

• 1 minute read

The Lexus GB Billie Jean King Cup team will take on Australia in the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers.

The Brits are set to face Australia from 10-11 April in Australia.

The Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers will see 14 nations compete across seven home-and-away ties with the winners progressing to the Finals in September.

GB have met Australia once in the last 45 years of the competition. In the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup semi-finals Australia beat GB in an incredibly close contest which saw a nail-biting doubles match, with the Australian pair of Storm Sanders and Samantha Stosur beating Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (5-7) (10-6) to progress to the final.

This will be the 12th meeting of the two nations with Australia leading the head to head 8:3.

Great Britain have reached the semi-finals of the World Cup of tennis in three of the last four seasons.

In 2025, the Brits defeated Germany and Netherlands to reach the Finals, where they went on to knock out Japan in the quarter-finals.

Despite strong showings from Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal against then WTA top 20 singles players Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro, the GB team lost out to USA 2-0 in the semi-finals.

The Brits will return this year hoping to reach their first final since 1981. They are currently the No.3 ranked team in the world according to Billie Jean King Cup national rankings.
