Venue Support Visit Walkaround
A Regional Safeguarding Officer will take delegates through a walkaround of a venue, identifying key elements of the safeguarding support visit process and how venues can ensure best practice in achieving the standards.
Meet the YPWAs
A chance to hear about the Young People’s Welfare Ambassador project, the first of its kind in sport! Hear from some of the young people and their venue Welfare Officers about the benefits of some of the projects and work they have completed in working with the LTA to raise safeguarding awareness and engage children and young people at their venues.
There will also be an opportunity to hear about plans for the project going forward and how you can get involved from 2024.
Safeguarding Case Study Workshop
An opportunity to talk through real life cases from start to finish, detailing how best to manage concerns and what happens once a report is made to the LTA. These sessions have proven extremely popular at past conferences and are therefore back by demand.
Izzey’s Story – A Facilitated Workshop About Grooming
A workshop led by Professor Jane Reeves from the University of Kent, who with the LTA and tennis community, developed an innovative new training package about a case of grooming occurring within a tennis club. This facilitated session will take delegates through the game and provide them with greater insight, analysis and understanding of grooming. Delegates who complete this workshop will have 12 months added to their current safeguarding training validity.
Risk Assessment Processes
This is an area the team have repeatedly been asked for further guidance on. This session will cover risk assessments, how to identify risks, how to mitigate those risks and how best to record your safeguarding risk assessment for events you may run at county or venue level.
Welfare Officer Forum – Ideas For Raising And Maintaining Safeguarding Awareness In Your Venue
This session will cover the importance of safeguarding awareness on an ongoing basis as well as looking at some easy, practical ways clubs can raise and maintain it. Particular attention will be given to how and what safeguarding information is communicated to everyone in the club as well as getting the most out of Clubspark Membership, Court booking and Coaching modules.
