Learning and development

As an LTA colleague, development isn’t treated as something you step away from your role to do occasionally – it’s built into how you work day to day. The LTA uses the 70:20:10 learning model, meaning:
- Most learning (70%) happens on the job, through problem‑solving, stretching yourself with new challenges, improving how you work, and applying new tools or approaches.
- 20% comes from learning with and from others, such as feedback, coaching, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
- 10% is formal learning, including courses, workshops, programmes, conferences and self‑led learning like e‑learning or podcasts.
This creates a culture where learning feels practical, relevant and closely connected to real work rather than abstract training.
Alongside your day job, you will have free access to LTA learn. LTA Learn is the central hub for learning:
- Short, flexible resources for busy days
- Mandatory and essential training clearly assigned
- Workshops and role‑specific learning bookings
- Visibility of what training is due and when
This makes learning feel manageable, structured and easy to engage with rather than overwhelming.
