Billy Harris lost on his first main draw appearance at the Shanghai Masters against Italy's Mattia Bellucci 6-3, 6-4.
Harris made the singles draw as a lucky loser and got off to a slow start - finding himself 3-0 down in the opening stages of the match. Bellucci fended off a break point at 4-2 to eventually take the first set in 38 minutes.
The 29-year-old Brit showed his fight to overturn a break deficit in the second set to draw at 3-3. However, two games later Harris was broken to love leaving the world No.101 to serve out the win to book his spot in the second round.
With Dan Evans's exit yesterday, there are now no Brits left in the singles draw in Shanghai.
However, there will be British hopefuls in the men's doubles draw, which gets underway on Friday.
Dan Evans bowed out of the Shanghai Masters singles in the opening round after losing out to Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth Wild 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(3).
The Lexus GB Davis Cup star saved two break points at the start of the second set to draw level and held a 4-2 lead in the decider.
However, world No.87 Seyboth Wild came back fighting and managed to force the match to a final set tie-break where he raced out to a 4-0 lead and eventually closed out the victory in two hours and 41 minutes.
Evans had reached the main draw as a qualifier with three-set victories over Yasutaka Uchiyama and Alex Bolt.
Billy Harris is the last remaining Brit in singles action as he gets set to face Italy’s Mattia Bellucci.
