Which British players are competing at the Lexus W100 Shrewsbury?

Sonay Kartal is the first Brit confirmed for tennis tournament in Shrewsbury and will return to British soil for the highly-anticipated W100 event.

The 22-year-old will enter in red-hot form off the back of recording her career-best season so far. Kartal has clinched five W35 titles already this year, four of which have come on home soil at the tournaments in Loughborough, Nottingham and Roehampton.

The Brighton-born star kick-started an incredible run of form at this years Championships at Wimbledon where she eased through three rounds of qualifying to eventually reach the third round - losing out to former US Open champion Coco Gauff. However, her fortnight in SW19 spurred her on to secure back-to-back W35 crowns in Roehampton before going on to do the unthinkable in Tunisia.

Having battled through qualifying at the Jasmin Open (WTA 250), Kartal enjoyed a fairytale run to a maiden WTA title which propelled her into the world's top 100 for the first time in her career.

Other British stars set to compete in the qualifying stages are former quarter-finalist Lily Miyazaki, Heather Watson, Jodie Burrage and last year's runner-up Amarni Banks.
