Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool win first title of the year at Barcelona Open

• 2 minute read

British doubles duo Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool made it third time lucky in ATP finals this year after they clinched their first title of the season at the Barcelona Open.

Cash and Glasspool sealed their ninth title together as a partnership and first of the 2026 campaign after beating Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Andrea Vavassori 6-3, 6-4 in the Barcelona Open final.

The pair had previously reached finals in Doha and Brisbane earlier in the year but fell short on both occasions.

Their victory in Barcelona marks Cash's first title on clay and Glasspool's second, following his Hamburg Open triumph in 2022 alongside Harri Heliovaara.

Speaking after the win, Cash said, "We’d not won a title this year but had been in a couple of finals, so it is always important to get back to winning ways and get comfortable in those moments again.

“We’re happy to get through those tight matches," Glasspool added. "At the end of the year, those matches are turning points for all of the top teams. It was great to tough them out and find ways.

"We weren’t always playing our best tennis, but the level got higher and higher throughout the week."

Cash and Glasspool captured seven ATP titles in 2025, including their first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon and an ATP Masters 1000 title at the National Bank Open.

Today's final was Cash and Glasspool's second ATP final on clay, having finished runners-up in Monte Carlo last year, but this time they ensured they wouldn't be left disappointed.

The Brits made a composed start against Herbert and Vavassori - who were parterning each other for the first time this week. They survived early pressure from the French, Italian duo - saving four break points in the fifth game before flipping the momentum. Cash and Glasspool broke at their first opportunity to take a 5-2 lead before closing out the set on their second set point.

The reigning Wimbledon champions maintained their intensity in the second set, breaking once again in the third game to establish a 3-1 lead and didn't look back from then on out.

Stepping up to serve it out for their first title of the season, the British duo set up three match points before sealing the victory in an hour and 18 minutes.

They will now turn their attention to the Mutua Madrid Open, where they will bid to make it back-to-back ATP titles.
