Joe Salisbury & Rajeev Ram announced as 2022 ITF World Champions in men’s doubles

• 2 MINUTE READ

Joe Salisbury and American doubles partner Rajeev Ram have been named the 2022 ITF World Champions in men’s doubles for the first time.

The duo has been crowned ITF World Champions in only their third season together as a team, after the British, American pair won their third men’s doubles Grand Slam title at the US Open, as well as clinching the Nitto ATP Finals crown in November.

Salisbury and Ram – who have both featured as world No.1 this season – finished the season with a 37-14 win record, collecting four titles in total, including a further two Masters trophies in Monte Carlo and Cincinnati.

"We are very honoured to have won this prestigious award from the ITF as recognition for the successes we have had,” said three-time men’s doubles Grand Slam champion, Salisbury. “We are very proud of all we have achieved this year."

Salisbury becomes only the second Brit to become an ITF World Champion in doubles, after Jamie Murray also won the award back in 2016.

He is the sixth British player to be crowned as a World Champion in any category, following on from other British greats, such as Andy Murray (2016 - men's singles), Jamie Murray (2016 - men's doubles), Gordon Reid (2016 - men's wheelchair) and Lee Childs and James Nelson (2000 - boys' doubles).

The award marks a brilliant end to the British ATP doubles season, which has seen both Salisbury and Neal Skupski reach world No.1 and eight players reach the top 100.
