Jan Choinski breaks into the ATP top 100 for the first time

30-year-old Jan Choinski has become the latest British star to break into the ATP top 100 after rising six places to a new career-high of world No.100.

This latest milestone in his career comes off the back of a run to the quarter-finals at the Lexus Eastbourne Open - where he became the first British qualifier to reach the final eight in the men’s singles draw.

Choinski is now one of two British men’s singles players currently in the top 100, joining former world No.8 Cam Norrie. Choinski will become the new British No.2.

Choinski spoke on what it means to have finally broken into the top 100 after his second round win on the south coast, saying, “It means the world. Together with my family, my girlfriend who supports me every week, and my coach in Vienna, Gunther.

“I have to thank him for the last two years, we’ve been working really hard on every aspect of my game and we’ve come so far that I’ve broken the top-100.

“I’ve just turned 30, I’ve been working for this moment my whole career, for 20 years, and I’m just happy that it all worked out. It’s a milestone we’ve reached but I want more for sure.”

This milestone has been a long time coming for the Briton, who has been a stalwart on the ATP Challenger Tour in recent seasons.

He won his first Challenger title in 2022 in Brazil, before picking up one a year up until 2025 where he has dominated on the clay.

Choinski claimed four titles on the clay last year and carried that winning form into 2026 where he’s already hauled another in Croatia - marking his 19th career title on across all levels of the game.

Choinski - who is supported by the NTC Pro Access Programme - came through qualifying to reach the main draw of the ATP 250 event in Eastbourne, where he’s well and truly found his form on the grass.

The British No.2 booked his spot in a first ATP quarter-final with a three-set win over fellow Brit Felix Gill, before bowing out to Belgium's Zizou Bergs. Despite missing out on a spot in the semi-finals, his impressive run resulted in Choinski jumping up the rankings to a new career-high of world No.99.

Choinski will now turn his attention to The Championships, Wimbledon where he’s secured a place in the main draw. The 30-year-old captured his first Grand Slam main draw win at SW19 three years ago after beating Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic.

He’ll open up his campaign at the third Grand Slam of the season against Vit Kopriva.
