Hewett & Reid claim silverware in Rotterdam

Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid dominated both the men’s wheelchair singles and doubles draws between them at the ABNO AMRO Open for the fourth time since 2020, as Hewett stretched his personal unbeaten sequence in Rotterdam to 18 singles matches and six titles.

Returning to the WT 500 tournament for the first time since 2024, top seed Hewett defeated Japan’s Takuya Miki 7-6(4), 6-2 and defending champion Stephane Houdet of France 6-1, 6-4 to set up his second all-British singles final in Rotterdam against British No.2 Reid.

Two-time champion Reid beat Israel’s Sergei Lysov 7-5, 6-2 before the world No.5 defeated Spain’s world No.3 Martin de la Puente 6-4, 6-2 to set up his second singles final in Rotterdam against Hewett.

However, world No.2 Hewett maintained his ABN AMRO Open dominance since 2020 to win his second singles title of 2026 6-1, 6-1.

In the men’s doubles, Hewett and Reid made a slow start before edging out De la Puente and Houdet 2-6, 6-1, 11-9 and then went a break down early in the final before reeling off 12 of the last 13 games to beat Dutchman Tom Egberink and the USA’s Casey Ratzlaff  6-2, 6-1. Hewett and Reid have now won two doubles titles together so far this season.

Pinnington Jones reaches first ATP 500 quarter-final

On the ATP Tour, 22-year-old Jack Pinnington Jones enjoyed a breakthrough week at the Dallas Open.

The former Lexus Nottingham Challenger champion came through qualifying to reach his first ATP 500 quarter-final.

Pinnington Jones claimed his first top-20 win over Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in the first round 6-2, 6-2 before claiming another impressive victory against USA’s Eliot Spizzirri 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(4).

However, the British star eventually lost out to former US Open champion Marin Cilic 6-1, 6-4.

Jay Clarke made the Chennai Challenger doubles final with Mukund Sasikumar, but finished runners-up against top seeds Pruchya Isaro and Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha 6-4, 6-4.

Emily Appleton also reached the WTA 125 Oeiras doubles final alongside Makoto Ninomiya, missing out on the title to Carmen Corley and Ivana Corley 2-6, 6-0, 10-4.

ITF titles for Basing, Jubb, Adeshina and Mischker

Max Basing won his second ITF singles title of the year at the M25 Vila Real de Santo Antonio.

The 23-year-old reached the final without dropping a set – including a semi-final win over Liam Broady – before beating Colombia’s Adria Soriano Barrera 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

Paul Jubb also clinched his first singles trophy of 2026 at the M15 Oberhaching in Germany – beating Marin Moeller in the final 6-2, 6-0.

Britain’s Felix Mischker teamed up with Martin Van Der Meerschen to win the M25 Antalya title – defeating third seeds Yanaki Milev and Stefan Popovic 6-1, 2-6, 10-8.

Finally, Esther Adeshina won the W15 Manacor title with Valentina Medlorreal Arias with a 6-1, 6-0 final victory over Celia Anson Sanchez and Maria Oliver Sanchez.
