• 2 minute read

20-year-old Jakub Mensik is still relatively new to the ATP Tour and the grass court season, but is making a name for himself as one of the best players in the world.

Coming off the back of his first Grand Slam semi-final at Roland Garros, the 2025 Miami Open champion heads to London this summer as one of the players to watch.

We break down Mensik’s history on grass courts and look back at some of his past results and successes.

Mensik’s best grass court results

As a junior, Mensik reached the semi-finals of the Wimbledon boys’ doubles in 2022, but only reached the second round in singles.

The Czech star has only played two full seasons on the grass but has already made quarter-finals at the ATP 250 events in Mallorca and at the Lexus Eastbourne Open.

In 2024, he beat Fabio Fognini and Christopher Eubanks to make the last eight in Mallorca before going on to make his Wimbledon debut.

Last year, Mensik also beat Reilly Opelka to reach the quarters at Eastbourne.

His career-best run at Wimbledon came last year, reaching the third round before losing to world No.24 Flavio Cobolli.

The then world No.17 lost in the second round to Roberto Bautista Agut in three sets before moving on to Eastbourne.

On the south coast, he claimed a 7-5, 6-3 victory over big-serving American Opelka, but lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals.

He got his first career win at Wimbledon against Hugo Gaston of France, and went on to beat Marcos Giron in the next round. However, the Czech lost to eventual quarter-finalist Cobolli in the third round 6-2, 6-4, 6-2.
