A Grand Slam in tennis refers to the four most prestigious tournaments in the sport, also known as the majors. Winning all four in a single calendar year is called winning the Grand Slam, widely regarded as the greatest achievement in tennis. Only a handful of players in history have accomplished this feat.
The four tennis Grand Slams are the Australian Open, the French Open (Roland Garros), Wimbledon, and the US Open. Each major is played on a different surface (hard court, clay, grass, and hard court, respectively) making them a unique test of a player's all-round ability.
The term 'majors' is used interchangeably with 'Grand Slams' and refers to the four tournaments that carry the most ranking points, prize money, and prestige on both the ATP and WTA Tours."
