Boulter & Raducanu poised to face top seeds early
Fresh off the back of winning her first career title on the clay at the WTA 125 Trophée Clarins last week, British No.1 Katie Boulter is set to play a qualifier in the opening round. Should she win, Boulter would potentially face seventh seed and Australian Open champion Madison Keys in the second round.
Emma Raducanu will face off against world No.42 Xinyu Wang in the first round, in what will be a tricky opening match for the former US Open champion.
One of the big headlines from the women’s singles draw however, is that Raducanu could go on to face former world No.1 Iga Swiatek in the second round. Swiatek has won the title in four of the last five years.
Sonay Kartal will make her Roland Garros main draw debut up against 20-year-old Erika Andreeva next week. Should Kartal win her first round match, she would play either 30th seed Anna Kalinskaya or Marie Bouzkova, before a potential third round clash with third seed Coco Gauff.
Jodie Burrage has been dealt a tough draw in the opening round up against former world No.7 and Miami Open champion Danielle Collins.
Francesca Jones could potentially make the main draw as we currently in the final round of qualifying.
Draper in the same quarter as Sinner; Fearnley & Norrie dealt tough openers
Fifth seed Jack Draper has been drawn against Italian Mattia Bellucci in round one at Roland Garros. The world No.5 and Indian Wells title-winner defeated Bellucci in their only previous meeting in Tokyo last year.
Draper’s path through the draw could see him play Gael Monfils in the second round, Hubert Hurkacz or Joao Fonseca in the third, Jakub Mensik or Alex de Minaur in the fourth and world No.1 Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals.
Jacob Fearnley will have a tough battle on his hands up against 2015 Roland Garros champion Stan Wawrinka. The winner will likely move on to play 22nd seed Ugo Humbert.
Cam Norrie is set to take on 12th seed and 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev in the first round. The former British No.1 recently lost against Medvedev at the Italian Open.
