Starting off with the women’s draw where Britain’s rising star Sonay Kartal leads the charge for the home favourites at the first grass court event of 2025.

Thas been on a steady rise through the WTA rankings over the last 12 months - delivering a number of impressive performances that were spurred on by a run to the third round at Wimbledon. Kartal has since gone on to claim six ITF-level titles and a maiden WTA crown at the Jasmin Open - all helping her to skyrocket into the world’s top 60 for the first time in her career.

Joining her will be Billie Jean King Cup teammate, Harriet Dart. The British No.4 reached the second round of the tournament in Birmingham last year where she was beaten by 2024 Wimbledon women’s singles champion Barbora Krejcikova.

On the men’s side, excitement is building ahead of Dan Evans’ debut at his home tournament. The Birmingham-born star will be gunning to etch his name on the trophy at the Edgbaston Priory Club in the first edition of the men’s event.

He’ll also be joined by compatriot Billy Harris, who made headlines last summer when he reached three semi-finals on British grass in Surbiton, Nottingham and Eastbourne.

With plenty of British talent on offer, the Lexus Birmingham Open will be one you won’t want to miss.

Who else is competing at the Lexus Birmingham Open 2025?

America’s Alycia Parks comes in as the highest ranked player confirmed for the WTA 125 event in Birmingham. The 24-year-old captured her first crown on the grass last year at the Veneto Open last summer, proving she has an effective game on the surface.

Joining her is one of the breakthrough stars of the year so far - Alexandra Eala from the Philippines. The 19-year-old made a name for herself at the Miami Open where, after receiving a wild card to the main draw, went on to reach the semi-final after taking down reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys and world No.2 Iga Swiatek.

Meanwhile, last year’s runner-up Ajla Tomljanovic will return to Birmingham looking to go one step further following her defeat to Yulia Putintseva in the final.

On the ATP Challenger side, world No.52 Quentin Halys enters as the highest ranked player following a standout start to the year that’s seen him reach his first ATP 500 semi-final in Dubai.

2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic is also set to make his debut at the Edgbaston Priory Club. The former world No.3 has tasted success on the British grass in previous years, having been crowned champion at the HSBC Championships at The Queen’s Club back in 2018.

Also joining a strong line-up of international talent in Birmingham is world No.53 Nicolas Jarry, previous Wimbledon quarter-finalist Christopher Eubanks and last year’s champion in Surbiton, Lloyd Harris.
