A superstar surprise - the British team meet Billie Jean King
The face of the Billie Jean King Cup, former world No.1 and tennis great, Billie Jean King herself, paid a heart-warming visit to Great Britain’s dressing room ahead of their second tie against Spain at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
Exchanging niceties, King was introduced to all the stars named in this year’s home nation side, including team captain Anne Keothavong, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson, Katie Boulter, and Britain’s two doubles specialists, Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls.
Sharing anecdotes, King and the team spoke of their own experiences before the multiple Grand Slam chmpion revealed some key life lessons to abide by heading into their second tie of the tournament.
The squad’s two new debutants were also on the receiving end of a lovely surprise after the seven-time Federation Cup winner – now known as the Billie Jean King Cup – awarded them with their LTA Colour Holder badges after making a sensational debut against Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
