National Lottery Funding Continues to Support the Very Best of Welsh Tennis

National Lottery funding continues to play a vital role in helping Welsh tennis players reach their potential, supporting a range of performance programmes, training opportunities, and travel to international competitions.
The funding enables Tennis Wales to create high-quality development opportunities for both wheelchair and non-disabled players, helping them to compete and succeed at national and international levels of the game.
One of the key initiatives supported by National Lottery funding is the 14+ National Training Programme, delivered in partnership with Cardiff Met University. The programme provides some of Wales' leading players with coaching from national coaches in a performance environment. Since its launch in autumn 2024, the programme has already helped players achieve success on the international stage, including appearances at Junior Wimbledon and victories in ITF singles and doubles events.
National Lottery funding has supported Welsh team participation in multiple events. The annual Junior Four Nations event features a Welsh team at U12, U14, and U18 which competes against teams from England, Ireland, and Scotland. Funding has helped support both the competition and pre-event training opportunities for the team. The Welsh junior wheelchair team enjoyed significant success at the LTA School Games National Finals recently, returning home with multiple medals, including three golds.
National Lottery investment enables Welsh players and coaches to travel together to junior ITF tournaments, providing valuable coaching support while competing at international competitions. This year alone, Welsh players travelled with coaches to ITF events in Finland and Scotland.
Many of Wales' leading players continue to benefit from national training opportunities funded through National Lottery support. Wheelchair players receive weekly training sessions and coach support at competitions, whilst non-disabled players come together twice each year.
Tennis Wales would like to thank the National Lottery for their continued support. Their investment is helping to develop the next generation of Welsh tennis talent and ensure that players across Wales have the opportunity to train, compete, and progress together.
