Tennis Wales Appoints First National Development Manager for Padel

• 4 minute read

Tennis Wales has announced the appointment of Rebecca Hannibal as its first-ever National Development Manager for Padel, marking a significant milestone in the growth of the sport across Wales.

The newly created role reflects Tennis Wales' commitment to supporting the expansion of padel and ensuring the sport has dedicated leadership as participation, venues and opportunities continue to grow across the country.

As the national governing body for both tennis and padel in Wales, Tennis Wales has seen strong growth across both sports in recent years. While tennis and padel share many common ambitions, the organisation recognises that each community has distinct needs and opportunities that require tailored support and development.

Rebecca Hannibal takes on the new role within Tennis Wales at an exciting time for the sport and will play a leading role in shaping the future of padel across Wales.

Over her first three months in post, Rebecca will focus on listening, learning and building relationships throughout the Welsh padel community. This will include spending time with venues, coaches, players and partners across Wales, as well as collaborating with colleagues and governing body counterparts across Great Britain to identify opportunities for growth and shared learning.

The appointment comes as Tennis Wales prepares to further strengthen its commitment to padel through the launch of a dedicated Padel brand, website and social media channels, creating a stronger platform to engage and support the growing padel community across Wales.

Looking ahead, Tennis Wales will use the insights gathered during this engagement period to help inform its longer-term plans for the sport. Attention will then turn to 2027, when Tennis Wales will publish a new strategy outlining its vision for the growth and development of both tennis and padel across the nation.

Rebecca Hannibal, National Development Manager for Padel at Tennis Wales, said:

"Padel is an incredibly exciting sport with huge momentum and a fantastic community. I am looking forward to spending my first few months in this new role connecting with the people who are driving the sport forward across Wales, understanding their ambitions and challenges, and working together to unlock the next phase of growth. There is enormous potential for padel to become even more accessible to communities across Wales, and I am excited to help shape a future that supports venues, coaches and players at every level of the game."
