Kyle Edmund has been one of Britain’s best tennis stars over the last two decades with a stacked list of career highlights.
While injuries were an issue for parts of his career, Edmund has reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam, ranked inside the world’s top 15, and lifted the Davis Cup.
Here, we look back at Edmund’s career by numbers with some of the stats that defined his time on the tour.
6 – In 2018, Edmund became the sixth British man to reach a Grand Slam semi-final in the Open Era with an impressive run at the Australian Open. En route to the final four, the Briton claimed statement wins over 12th seed Kevin Anderson and third seed Grigor Dimitrov, before losing out to Marin Cilic.
8 – The number of Davis Cup ties Edmund competed in, finishing with a winning record of 6-5. His most notable Davis Cup wins came against Janko Tipsarevic in the 2016 quarter-final, Denis Shapovalov in 2017, and Feliciano Lopez in the 2019 semi-final.
14 – Edmund’s career-high ranking, achieved in October 2018, following his performances at the Australian Open, a final in Marrakech, a semi-final at the China Open, and quarter-finals in Madrid, Eastbourne, Estoril, Brisbane and Winston-Salem.
15 – Total number of pro-level singles titles won throughout is career. He won his first professional trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour in 2012 on clay in the US and went on to lift two ATP Tour trophies in his career – Antwerp and New York.
16 – In 2018, Edmund became the 16th man to become British No.1 in the Open Era, joining an exclusive group that includes Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Greg Rusedski, and now Jack Draper.
22 – Months between ATP singles matches following knee surgeries from October 2020. Edmund returned at the Citi Open in 2022 with a three-set win over Yosuke Watanuki.
23 – The number of main draw Grand Slam singles matches Edmund won in his career. Despite his success at the Australian Open, Edmund actually won the most matches at Roland Garros (7), where he reached the third round twice in 2017 and 2018.
31 – Edmund was the first British player to win a Roland Garros title in 31 years, lifting the boys’ doubles trophy with Frederico Ferreira Silva. It was the second junior Grand Slam doubles title, adding to his success at the US Open just months before.
79 – The number of years between Davis Cup wins for Great Britain before Edmund and the team clinched the title in 2015. Edmund made his debut in the final against Belgium, forcing former world No.7 Davis Goffin to five sets before Andy and Jamie Murray went on to seal the tie.
119 – The total number of ATP Tour matches Edmund won in his career. His best win by ranking came against world No.3 Grigor Dimitrov in the 2018 Australian Open quarter-final, while he also defeated 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic in the Madrid Open.
2024 – Edmund won the final two singles titles of his career in 2024. The Briton won ITF titles in Sunderland and Loughborough in $25k events as part of the LTA Performance Competitions Calendar.
1,365 – The number of aces Edmund hit on the ATP Tour throughout his career. The British star was known for his big baseline game and particularly his forehand, but had good success on his serve, winning 73% of points on his first serve in just under 250 matches.
