Aegon Ilkley Trophy

With the grass-court season just around the corner, find out how you can buy tickets to see tennis on your doorstep at the Fuzion 100 Trophy Series events.

What is the Fuzion 100 Trophy Series?

The grass-court Fuzion 100 Trophy Series is a run of four boutique tournaments that provide up-and-coming Brits and international stars unparalleled preparation for Wimbledon.

Held in June alongside British Tennis’ Fever-Tree Championships and the newly-sponsored Nature Valley events in Nottingham, Birmingham, and Eastbourne, the Fuzion 100 Trophy Series is a mix of men’s and women’s events at the ATP Challenger and ITF Pro Circuit levels.

The venues take in some of the most picturesque tennis venues in the country, from Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club on the fringe of the Yorkshire Dales, to Portsmouth’s Canoe Lake Leisure on the south coast.

Surbiton Racket & Fitness Club hosts the series curtain-raiser, providing some of the earliest competition available on British grass, while The Northern’s Fuzion 100 Manchester Trophy has previously been voted the city’s event of the year.

The Nature Valley Open in Nottingham also hosts an ATP Challenger alongside its WTA International tournament. Although the Nottingham tournament does not carry the Trophy name, it still represents an important event in the Challenger calendar.

Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy

Throughout its history, Surbiton Racket & Fitness Club has held international tennis events and today is the venue for The Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy - the opening tournament in the grass-court Fuzion 100 Trophy Series.

The event has attracted the biggest names in British and international tennis, with Andy Roddick, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Tim Henman, Anne Keothavong, and Roger Federer all gracing the courts in previous years.

Nestled in its Surrey site on the outskirts of London, the 2018 Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy will be a combined men’s and women’s event, taking place from Saturday June 2 to Sunday June 10. Players will be competing to win this prestigious title and fine-tune their games for the grass events to come.

Fuzion 100 Manchester Trophy

Next up in the Trophy calendar is the Fuzion 100 Manchester Trophy, a women’s-only event from June 10-17 held at The Northern in the Mancunian suburb of Didsbury.

Throughout its long history, The Northern has held international tennis events and attracted some of the greats of the game - John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg, Fred Perry, Jimmy Connors, Billie-Jean King, and Margaret Court.

In 2016, the club hosted a men’s $50K ATP Challenger event, with the dynamic Dustin Brown wowing the crowd as he dived and volleyed his way to victory. A year later, the Fuzion 100 Manchester Trophy doubled in prize money as it switched to a women’s $100k ITF Pro Circuit tournament.

Fuzion 100 Ilkley Trophy

The Fuzion 100 Trophy Series heads across the Pennines for its third installment, arriving in the beautiful surroundings of Ilkley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

Established in 1880 the Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club occupies a unique location by the River Wharfe in picturesque surroundings, looking up to the panoramic backdrop of the world-famous Ilkley Moor and Cow & Calf rocks.

The Club boasts 12 grass courts, enough to host the Series’ second combined men’s and women’s event. The 1,800-strong membership base always offer a passionately warm welcome to visiting pros, who will descend on the town from June 16-24.

Fuzion 100 Southsea Trophy

Providing the finale to the Fuzion 100 Trophy Series is a tournament that is just a year old, having made its bow in 2017.

The Fuzion 100 Southsea Trophy takes place at Canoe Lake Leisure, just moments from Portsmouth’s beaches and bustling esplanade. The venue was formed in 2013 to safeguard the future of Canoe Lake’s grass courts and is now proud to host the women’s-only Trophy event.

At 16 players, the draw is smaller than any of its Fuzion 100 Trophy Series cousins, but last year there was plenty for home fans to cheers in the form of Brits Laura Robson and Katie Boulter.

Previous Champions

Some of the biggest names in professional tennis have graced the Fuzion 100 Trophy Series courts over the years and the list of winners at each event makes for impressive reading.

Surbiton has seen Wimbledon semi-finalist and crowd favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga claim the title back in 2007, while Kevin Anderson and Ivo Karlovic are among the event’s previous finalists.

On the women’s side, Magdalena Rybarikovaa enjoyed a sensational run on grass last year, scooping the Surbiton and Ilkley titles before storming to an appearance in Wimbledon’s last-four.
