Cam Norrie: 2025 season in review

• 4 MINUTE READ

Cam Norrie’s return to the top of the ATP Tour this season has been nothing short of impressive.

The former Indian Wells champion almost dropped out of the top 100 in May but after a stellar end to the year, finishes the season ranked world No.27.

Over the course of the 2025 season, Norrie played his best tennis on the biggest stages – with impressive wins at the Grand Slams and reaching the third round at four ATP Masters 1000 events.

Catch up on all the highlights and best moments from Norrie’s 2025 season:

Following a fourth round run at Roland Garros, Norrie’s form ramped up in the second half of the season where he picked up his career-best win at the Rolex Paris Masters.

A straight sets win over Sebastian Baez set up a tough challenge against world No.1 and six-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz in the second round.

It marked the eighth meeting between the two, with Alcaraz having knocked Norrie out in the Wimbledon quarter-final only a few months before.

With all the odds stacked against him and the hype around Alcaraz and his quest to finish as the year-end No.1 – Norrie showed his quality to stun the Spaniard on the Parisian indoor courts.

The former world No.8 came back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and claim his first career-win over a world No.1.

After the match Norrie claimed it was ‘the biggest win of my career’ and will give him a huge confidence boost heading into 2026.

Cam Norrie’s defining moment in 2025:

Norrie headed to Wimbledon this year slightly under the radar after opening round defeats at the HSBC Championships and the Lexus Eastbourne Open – but proved why he’s a man for the big occasion.

The former semi-finalist came through a tough opening match-up against world No.42 Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets, before causing an upset over 12th seed Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5.

A straight sets win against Mattia Bellucci saw the British star through to the fourth round for a second time, where he would meet the big-serving Chilean, Nicolas Jarry.

Former world No.16 Jarry had been on an incredible run at SW19 – coming through qualifying to then knock out eighth seed Holger Rune in the first round, followed by two of the brightest young stars in the game, Learner Tien and Joao Fonseca.

His strong serving on the grass made him a tough opponent for Norrie and the two players battled it out for four and a half hours over five sets.

Despite having seen a two set lead come and go, Norrie had the mental resilience to see out another win on his beloved No.1 Court 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-7(7), 6-7(5), 6-3 in front of an adoring British crowd.

Cam Norrie’s video of the year

In September, Norrie was called upon by Lexus GB Davis Cup Captain Leon Smith to join the team for a crucial World Group I tie against Poland.

It was a must-win match-up for the Brits knowing that they needed a victory to re-join the qualifiers at the start of the 2026 season.

Smith selected what was, on paper an inexperienced Davis Cup team, with just two matches between Jacob Fearnley, Arthur Fery, Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash.

Norrie was tasked with leading the side for a tricky away tie in Poland and won two decisive rubbers to seal the win for his country.

Watch back all the highlights from Norrie’s final match in Poland against Olaf Pieczkowski.

Cam Norrie's quote of the year:

This win is so big for me. Coming back from my injury, I've been trying to enjoy my tennis in the second half of the year and I was able to do that. To get the biggest win of my career, my first win over a world number one, and probably the most confident player in the world right now, I am pleased with the way I did it.

There was only ever one choice for Norrie’s photo of the year for 2025.

After taking down Jarry in a five-set epic, three tie-breaks and endless long rallies, Norrie threw his racket in the air and collapsed to the floor in celebration.

Getty Images photographer Henry Nicholls perfectly captured the former British No.1 in that winning moment.

What’s next for Cam Norrie in 2026?:

After a strong end to the season – reaching the Moselle Open final for the second year in a row – Norrie finds himself finishing the season ranked inside the world’s top 30 and in with a good chance of being seeded at the Australian Open.

Norrie will start his season at the ASB Classic in Auckland before heading to Melbourne for the first Grand Slam of the year – where he’ll be aiming to better his career-best

The Briton won’t have too many ranking points to defend in the first half of the season outside of a quarter-final in Delray Beach and third rounds in Indian Wells and Madrid – so there will be plenty of opportunity for him to climb further up the rankings.

Norrie will also have one eye on the Davis Cup Qualifiers for Great Britain, starting in January.
