The LTA Pledgeball League is back for 2026
• 3 minute read
The LTA Pledgeball League is back for 2026, building on three years of growing momentum and engagement across the tennis and padel community.
Once again, the LTA is partnering with BBC award-winning charity Pledgeball to invite venues, players and coaches across Britain to take meaningful action on climate change, demonstrating how all of us can play a role that has an impact.

Rally for Tomorrow
Since launching in 2023, the LTA Pledgeball League has become a powerful driver of change within grassroots tennis. Players across LTA registered venues have made nearly 10,000 pledges, contributing to a commitment to save over 1.8 million kg of CO₂ emissions per year.
In 2025 alone, engagement surged to record levels, with more than 90 venues taking part, a 133% increase on the previous year, and over 756,000kg of CO₂ pledged to be saved per year. This collective effort is equivalent to keeping a tennis court floodlit continuously for more than 43 years.
Now, in 2026, the ambition is even greater.
We are calling on more venues, players and coaches than ever before to get involved, making pledges that reduce environmental impact and help safeguard the future of the sport.
British No.1 Cam Norrie is a great advocate for all things sustainable, hear what he has to say on cycling to and from practice, as well as looking ahead to this year’s LTA Pledgeball League.
How the league works
The 2026 LTA Pledgeball League will again run across four rounds from June to September, giving venues multiple opportunities to climb the leaderboard.
Participants can make simple, everyday pledges through the Pledgeball platform, such as:
- Walking or cycling to the club
- Using reusable water bottles or coffee cups
- Reducing energy use at home or at the venue
- Car sharing or using public transport
Each pledge contributes to a venue’s overall score, with league tables tracking progress and celebrating those leading the way.
Funding sustainable change
To support long-term impact, the LTA will continue its grant funding scheme for the victorious venues:
- £250 for first place in each round
- £150 for second place
- £100 for third place
These grants are reinvested directly into sustainability projects at winning venues, from installing LED lighting and water refill stations to creating wildlife habitats and encouraging active travel.
As well as giving your venue a chance of winning, there’s also a chance to win yourself, as every person who makes a pledge will be entered into a draw to win tickets to the 2027 HSBC Championships at The Queen's Club!

LTA Coaches Pledgeball League makes a return
Following a successful pilot in 2025, the LTA Coaches Pledgeball League will continue to play an important role in 2026.
Coaches are uniquely positioned to influence behaviour both on and off the court. Last year’s participants showed how sharing simple sustainability messages can spark conversations, shift habits, and create ripple effects across entire club communities.
By embedding sustainable practices into coaching, and leading by example, coaches are helping to normalise environmentally responsible behaviours for players and families alike.
The coach who tops the leaderboard at the end of September will win a £400 Pro: Direct voucher!

A Growing Movement
The LTA Pledgeball League is more than a competition, it is a movement that is reshaping how tennis engages with sustainability.
Through ongoing collaboration with venues, the LTA and Pledgeball are also supporting deeper sustainability projects, from biodiversity initiatives to exploring circular solutions for equipment like tennis balls.
This growing network of engaged clubs highlights what’s possible when passionate communities come together with a shared purpose.
Katie Cross, Founder and CEO of Pledgeball, emphasised the importance of collective action, “As the tennis community, we have a huge amount of power to drive change. By making a pledge and taking positive action, we can all help protect the future of our sport.”
Jack Baker, Head of Public Policy and Sustainability at the LTA, added, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Pledgeball. The LTA Pledgeball League shows how venues and players across Britain can come together to make a meaningful difference. We encourage as many venues as possible to get involved in 2026, play their part, and help protect our sport and the places it is played.”
Whether you are a player, coach, volunteer or venue, your actions, no matter how small, contribute to a bigger collective impact.
Together, we can rally for tomorrow and ensure a more sustainable future for tennis.
