Preview
Norrie faces stiff competition coming into his quarter-final clash, with Alcaraz currently on an 18-match win streak at The Championships and on a quest to clinch his third successive Wimbledon trophy this fortnight.
The British No.3 had a slow start to his grass court season but has hit form at the perfect time and has been rewarded with a place in his second Grand Slam quarter-final.
The 2022 Wimbledon semi-finalist fought through a gruelling five set encounter against Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry to reach the final eight and will be hoping to carry his confidence and momentum into his blockbuster meeting against the second seed.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz is currently on a 22-match win streak - the longest of his career to date. The second seed hasn’t lost a match since the Barcelona Open final in April against Holger Rune, having taken home titles at the last three events he’s competed in at the Italian Open, Roland Garros and HSBC Championships at The Queen’s Club.
Alcaraz has quickly become a force to be feared on the grass and currently holds a 33-3 win record on the surface.
The five-time Grand Slam champion enters the quarter-finals having dropped some unexpected sets early on in his Wimbledon campaign this year, which will give Norrie some confidence and belief heading into a highly-anticipated meeting.
Key stats
Both players have been particularly impressive on serve throughout the tournament, having won 73% of points behind their first serves across their four matches so far and will be looking to continue that heading into their battle.
A key contributor to Norrie overcoming Jarry to reach the quarter-finals was his unforced error count. The Chilean might have struck 103 winners across the match but he also coughed up 71 unforced errors compared to just 26 from the Brit.
However, Norrie will need to increase the points won in his return games if he’s to get past the two-time champion. The Brit has won 28% of return points on his opponents' first serve so far (91/324) and 49% of points on the second serve return (105/213) - both of which are lower than the average of his Spanish rival.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz has been looking to come into the net and has been effective when doing so - winning 70% of net points (91/132) across his four matches so far, including 22/29 (76%) in his fourth round meeting against Andrey Rublev.
The Spaniard is known for unleashing aggressive shots from the baseline and has amassed an outstanding 169 winners so far, while Norrie’s count sits just behind at 158.
