Lexus Ilkley Open 2026: British champions in women’s & men’s doubles
• 1 minute read
It was a successful day for British doubles at the Lexus Ilkley Open with title-winners in both the women’s and men’s draws.
Marcus Willis and David Stevenson wrapped up the men’s doubles title earlier in the day with a 7-6(5), 6-3 win over India’s Rithvik Bollipalli and USA’s Trey Hilderbrand.
The British duo – who saved two match points in their quarter-final match this week – broke three times in the second set to complete their final victory in an hour and a half.
It’s a second British grass court title for Willis, who also won the ATP Challenger at the Lexus Nottingham Open with John Peers in 2024.
Willis and Stevenson have now won four doubles titles together, including the Taipei Challenger and two ITF $25k tournaments in Sunderland.
They will now head to The Queen’s Club where they have a wild card into the HSBC Championships men’s doubles.
Meanwhile in the women's doubles final Freya Christie and Eden Silva came back from a set down to defeat fourth seeds Madeleine Brooks and Amelia Rajecki - sealing the title with a 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 victory.
The all-British pair came back from a set and a break down to take Brooks and Rajecki to a match-deciding tie-break. There, Christie and Silva reeled off the final four points in a row to seal their fourth title of the year and their biggest to date.
Christie and Silva have been in winning form on the ITF Tour, having captured trophies at the W75 Caserta, W50 Roehampton and W35 Nottingham. The Lexus Ilkley Open title marks a first title on grass for both Christie and Silva
